    Default Cat hair

I eat, breathe and sleep in cat hair, adn there is noting I can do abou tit.

I cook and discover cat hair. I find cat hair in my drink.

I sleep in a pound of cat hair on my pillow. It is on my clothes.

And this is the life I choose to live.

They are short haired cats. I brush them. It;s just a fact of life. I consume cat hair.

did I mention I bathe with it to?

I don't like living with cat hair. It is just somethign one chooses to accept when they adopt an animal with hair.

I should have been a snake person...or a gerbil operson.

my dogs hair used to be like that. It spread like wildfire. It was in my car, inside my sh0es, at my bf's h0use, in my lecture notes EVERYWHERE.

He passed away 6 months ago and I was happy t0 find s0me 0f his hair recently in an 0ld n0teb00k.

I do miss him terribly but I also love the memories he left me with.

I always used to get shitty about the hair coz it w0uld ruin my new cl0thes as soon as i got home but they are worth it as u already know!

Have you tried brushing them with a wet brush? It grabs more hair and dander and keeps them from shedding so much, if you do it every day. They like it too; I imagine it feels like their mother licking them when they were kittens.

Boy can I relate to this post! My two cats leave so much hair around the house. Drives me crazy. I invested in a good vacume cleaner, which helps. But I really only use it once a week, cleaning the whole house top to bottom on Saturdays. I don't brush the little monsters, either. Does that really help?

I agree. Brush them like theres no tomorrow. It'll keep them from getting hairballs too.

Argh, I know how you feel. The cat is the least of my problems. I have 3 large dogs that shed way more than he does!

For about the first month that I lived with Boyfriend, I swore that I had a hairball in the back of my throat! Our two cats are long haired. To add insult to injury, they're indoor/outdoor, so they bring in stickery little weeds, fox tails and other pokey items that we have to remove daily, otherwise we get nice little prickly kitties in bed with us at night!

I run the vaccuum every other day...This drives me nuts (3 cats and 2 dogs, too much fur all over the place.)

In fact, I need to go do that rightnow.....

Get them shaved! That's what I've done with my cats, cuz my allergies can't handle shedding. And after their fur grows back they don't shed as much that year.

Yea, it's part of the package deal. Personally I think it's a worthwhile exchange, but ah yea, cat hair everywhere. Invest a few bucks in a lint roller

The shaving is great for the summer - and while they hate the process of shaving, I think they seem to like the results. I've seen more than one cat checking itself out after getting a lion cut with an expression that clearly says "I'm so sleek and aerodynamic! And check out my haunches! I never knew this body was under that fur!" And seriously - they're cooler. Go to a groomer though - don't do it yourself at least not the first time.

Another thing you can do is add fatty acids to their food and water - fish liver oils and stuff. That helps.

^^Yep, for a day they walk around all embarassed like, but then they seem to be happy. No hair balls, and it's not as hot. My groomer charges 40 bucks a cat.

I have 2 kitties---the only way I can stay on top of the cat hair is to use the sticky-roller things on my couches and bedding. You know what I mean--those sticky rolls of paper you peel off after each use. They are a godsend for someone like me, who has allergies, but refuses to live without her kitties--they pick up hair and dander better than anything I've used. You can get these at pet stores, and drugstores.

Bit off topic, but I've started dating someone with severe cat allergies (and some lung issues besides). The upshot: She'll never be comfortable at my place. Is this bad? Maybe not. Her place is cleaner, her bed is bigger, and I enjoy having my alone--with cats as companions--time. She hasn't, so far, asked me to dump the howling felines in a river.

I dated a guy with allergies who seemed to think that ,if we were planning a future together, the cats would have to go. Uh, no. He didn't last, because he was an assuming ass in other ways as well.

My pets are not disposeable. I too like my space to be all mine, and would not want to share it with someone full-time. But anyone with allergies who comes along will have to get that my pets are my responsibility, and that they are staying. In fact, dating someone with allergies who isn't an assuming ass would be ideal--my space would pretty much remain my own.

I feel your pain....cat hair, dog hair, it's all over the place! We had one cat, then it was a cat and a dog, now my neighbors cat (whom my kitty is in love with, they lay around and groom eachother and wrestle all day long) has moved into our house. I can't get rid of her! And she's REALLY furry!

The hair is out of control. I feel like I will never ever catch up to it! I bought these wipe things that were supposed to get most of the loose hair and stuff off your cats, I brush them, I have even gone so far as to wash them in the tub!

    *couchfurballcough* It's not working.

I agree that it may be a fatty acid deficiency. Try adding a little flax seed oil or some other kind of Omega 3 & 6 to their food. Sometimes it might help to change their food altogether.

They are short haired, but I had a Maine Coon before, who had very very long hair, and her shedding was just incredible. I swear, she shedded her body weight in hair each week.
    SO I shaved her.
I will never shave a cat again.
My poor baby was actually embarassed without her hair. She hid all week, and was just shy. She was never shy. She felt embarassed. I felt so bad...

The shedding on these cats isn't that bad, in comparison. It's just somethgn animals do. They shed. I will try brushing them with a wet brush, that might help, and I will add some oil to their food and see if they will eat it. My cats are picky, but I'll try it.

Maybe just like half a teaspoon in some wet food? Then they probably wouldn't notice it. The oil is almost flavorless.

YES! I think that Farley is attempting the cat version of vegetative propagation. Maine Coons are known for being smart, after all.

With the AC on, my house is like a furry version of Texas, with tumbleweeds rolling across the landscape.

When the potheads next door moved out 8 years ago they abandoned their cat so I took her in. Her coat is medium, at best, but she's white. She posesses porcupine-like qualities in that if you look at her wrong she can tense her muscles and a cloud of hair will release from her body. Maybe it's more squid-like, a smoke screen of hair as a defense mechanism. Regardless, it's nearly everywhere. If I go out and wear black, I can't dress until I am ready to go out the door. I keep lint brushes in my car and suitcase. On Sundays when I change the sheets I vacuum my comforter. The couch now belongs to her. Now, where'd I put my beard trimmer?

I have a snarky feeling that cat hair reproduce once they fall off the cat.

I need to look into this- it could be the answer to some cure for something, like baldness.
