Default failed test run at glue in tracks...

but on the good side it psyched me up to get the fusion extentions, and i made an appointment for next month for the consult they are 600 plus the cost of hair. i thought that was pretty good.

anyway heres some pics of my tracks. you may think they look ok, but trust me the back was fuuuucked up...

any advice on questions to ask when i go for my consult?

I've never had fusion done but I've heard great things about it. Gives a natural appearance.

When you go to the consult, make sure you ask to see pics of his/her work.

i had fusion , I called it my hoe hair phase. 600 is a good price. I think mine was 800 plus the cost of labor? or something like that. I paid a lil' over a grand.

Lasted forever. I had no matting, damage etc when they removed them ovger 3 months later.
Make sure to get your trim before they do it. You'll need another when they come out.

yeah, why not clip ins or sew in or even a lace front wig? I think that these three are the healthiest for your hair. Fusion and glue break the hair off-especially if you have fine hair. That's why so many stars rock wigs or get uber short styles 'out of the blue!'

It totally freaks me out that people charge so much for fusions. They're just like getting micro braids (as in the amount of time it takes)... and micros cost less than $250 most times. $600 is crazy.

    Doesn't make sense.

I do a lot of my friends fusion extensions for like $150 if they buy the hair. And I do micro links for $200 if they buy the hair. It's crazy what people get away with charging.

I think there is something that crosses over to non-kinky haired people... when you use the word extensions instead of weave...the price triples.

Glue in tracks are horrible for your hair (moreso your scalp) but I too have done them before. I do my own tracks, but most salons only charge like $60 max to glue in a really great great style. But once you go to a non-kinky haired salon, they charge you hundreds.

Clip ins are DEFINITELY better for your hair. You can make your own clip in extensions, too. It is ridiculously easy. Buy high quality hair and some $2.00 clips and make your own extensions. I made a whole custom kit for my sisters wedding. Cut, colored, and styled them. All for less than $100.00 with half a pound of hair.

Lacefronts are great, too (I love wigs) if you apply the glue right.

It's INSANE. If you go to the hood somewhere, there's a hundred chicks in salons cranking out red-carpet styles for less than $300, including hair, color, cut, style and your uninstalling.

I haven't personally tried them, but I think they are a waste of money. You are just paying for a name. Make your own or buy some off ebay.

Yes!!! And their synthetic ones are horrible. Ken Paves is getting PAID!

You can make your own extensions by holding the tracks up to your head to get a general idea of the size for that area of your head, cut to desired width....lay all the tracks out in order so you can keep track of which tracks start at the top and work down towards the bottom.

Then put the comb clips on the wefted part of the hair and use a sewing machine or an EZ Stitch to sew them into place.

I write on the combs with a colored sharpie (on the part that lies flat to your head that no one can see) on one of the combs like "1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6" for which one goes in at the top, sides, middle, bottom, etc.

^^Not even that complicated, you can sew by hand. It's not that hard to tell where they pieces go either, I've never labeled mine.

Well, I make mine for other people...it's easy to explain it to them with "Start at your scalp with one, use 2&3 at the sides, and work your way down".

Sewing by hand...my hands are shaky by nature. They'd be bulky knotted up messes. 2 passes under my Singer works wonders, lol.

Theres a website that is very good:

    http://www.drlocks.net/

you can buy synthetic hair, human hair, hair for braids...whatever you need

plus all the installation materials whether it be fusions or glue-ins.

and the prices are reasonable and ive bought stuff off here and the cust service was pretty good. no complaints here.

they also have tutorials...thats how i learned most of the different ways i do hair....

I have these clip in pieces I got from my salon and I think they come from the same line as the Jessica Simpson ones. They are synthetic, but they are only two pieces and they blend into my hair so naturally that everyone thinks it really is my hair. I was used to doing the weft-by-weft manner of putting in extensions, and this is much much easier. And they are cheap!

I like my 23" Jessica Simpson clip in hair piece, but the hair does get really matted.

For those who have suggested making your own can you show me a website that has a picture of what you are taking about. I'm a little confused

Is the Jessica Simpson one human hair?? I can't do synthetic at all, I need to be able to style and wash it, esp once it gets that bar smell.

    They have both
I bought my synthetic one for 100$, but the real hair one is like 600$.

I have the synthetic, and yeah, they rat up quickly no matter how much you pay for them. I think regular people could wear them from day-to-day, but when you wear them dancing they get destroyed in no time at all. That's the problem I've always had with phony ponies too.

I know right but thats retail, I found it online for about 400$ for the 21" HH
The thing I like about the synthetic is that it stays curled.

    Edit:
I just did some research and found a human hair piece like the Jessica's Simpson one for 170$!! but it is only 16"
I guess I should have looked around more.

This site has a better picture:

This one has a better price:

You can make a set of clip ins with human hair for under $100. I wouldn't even bother with 16 inches. If I'm wearing fake hair, I want it to make an impact. Plus, clip ins allow for way more styling options.
