I'm going to go out on a limb here and say screw MAC, they aren't that good. I also would never would suggest buying everything from one brand. Its best to find the best of each individual company

Try Japonesque brushes if you are looking to stock up on tools. They are uber cheap and high quality at Ulta.com and cost like twice as much at Nordstroms.

Buying expensive pencils isn't worth it either. You just need a plain, creamy consistency. Theres not much science to em. 99 cent Wet and Wilds cut it for me. Try the color "willow" its the same as MAC spice.

I've replaced all my MAC with mostly Make Up Forever or Nixie Cosmetics.

kstar is psychic, I was going to ask the same question. I have to buy new makeup in 2 weeks and I'll be in a city where MAC is sold.

& I'd rather hear what to get from Stripperweb girls, I can't afford to buy a lot right away...
(Needs: undereye concealer, foundation, eyeliner, shimmer eyeshadow, blush/contour powder...etc....Whatever you think will work....Thanks a zillion hot ladies...!!!)

You should never buy all your makeup from just one line, that's just cheating yourself. But MAC does make some really amazing products, particularly eye shadows and pigments. I don't recommend their foundations.

Anyway, these are what I would buy:

    Loose Blot Powder
    Fluidline in Blacktrack
    263 brush (for fluidline)
    222 brush (for eyes)
    217 brush (for eyes)
187 brush (for face, kinda $$)
Eyeshadows in Mulch, Nylon, Amber Lights, Carbon, Deep Truth, Humid, Parfait Amour. (That gives you some neutrals and some colors).
    Subculture lipliner
    Viva Glam V lipglass
    Sapalicious lipgelee

I'd suggest MUFE for foundations and Nars for blush.

Thanks for asking, kstar; I was about to search the archives for this very info.

And thanks again. Latina Rose. You are always so helpful.
Lemme ask you some more stuff:
Right now my foundation of choice is Chanel Double Perfection; but with my larger pores this really does not give me that airbrushed look; even wet. I am gonna try your suggestion of MUFA; but do you have a fave foundation brush? Or a different way of application?

My eye makeup and blush skills are developing;along with my use of shimmer poweders and etc.; but it seems the canvas I'm putting this on needs some more work. I am adjusting my skincare routine and have finally found what works to keep me from most breakouts. I am starting on refining my pores also. But I really don't want to slather on a bunch of foundation. My skin does not do well with liquid found. at all now. Am I going to HAVE to do cream or liquid to get that finish?

OH! and do you have a fave brand for a kabuki? Or do you even use?

LR....I can't believe you didn't meantion an eyeshadow primer!

but after trying the bare canvas paint and urban decay primer potion (thanks VG!) I have to say I like the UDPP better.

I use MAC 187 to apply foundation. I know it looks like a powder brush, but works really well with wet products as well. Amazingly well. I'm buying a 2nd one so I can have one for wet and one for dry. Oh, and I did forget an eye primer! I would go with a shadestick in Beige-ing! or the UDPP, like Em mentioned. A face primer will help your foundation go on smoother. I like MUFE's. I don't use a kabuki brush, the 187 is all I need!! I'm not a fan of Nars lipgloss - they disappear too quickly and I lose all my lipglosses anyway, so I don't want to spend $24 on one unless I really, really like it. They do make the absolute best blush in the world. Great shadows too, but they crease really easily so primer is required.

Check out for more makeup fun.

I totally agree. I love UDPP, it's awesome. I'm not really a fan of most of the paints from MAC, and I've tried to use them with all kinds of looks.

Oooh, I'm glad you like it!!

I still love my Bare Canvas. The UDPP felt too dry for me.

I also agree with LR that you should not go with only one brand. Most of my e/s and piggies are from MAC because the colors and staying power are best (IME) with MAC. I hate the foundations, though...after 3 years, I've still never found a foundation that works with me (Bare Essentials, etc...none of them work...so I don't use foundation). I do prefer Shisheido liners. They have great staying power. Maybelline has great mascara. I used to prefer Max Factor for mascara, but they changed their formula and I just don't like it.

MAC Lipglass...while very shiny is also very goopy. I have a few colors, but I put it on very sparingly because I don't like feeling like my lips are sticking together.

Make-up is a try and see type of hobby.

Another great line is Urban Decay.

Sephora has MUFE, which was reccomended to me by a SW'er awesome stuff..

Same brand (MUFE ) has a all matte product that you can use underneath your foundation - . No shine and the products that you use on top of it stay like spackle.

Also if you click on the "best kept secrets" on the Sephora page there's other stuff like skin primer and eye shadow seal..

Fudge, I almost forgot - there is Camera ready Cosmentics to..

    Hope this helps

^ Been there, done that. No matter what foundation I use, I break out. Always...if I don't break out, my face itches like crazy. I've tried every brand on the market and nothing works.

I tried tinted moisturizer...and although the side effects are not as bad...it still happens.

So, I just go without foundation.

    Thanks, though.

I think MAC's eyeshadow 'electric eel' is their most standout product. An instant cult classic which came out at a time when no one other dept. store brands were making shadows that intense. Years later some knock off's have come on the market, but none can quite compare to it. Therefore it gets my vote as the one must have item of theres. It's a SUPER bright (almost neon) blue which is surprisingly flattering on a wide array of skin tones, as long as you're brave enough to wear it.
