Default What is the difference between a PD and a LD?

    Hi everyone!
I was just wondering what the difference was between a lap dance and a private dance. I'm not dancing yet, but doing a lot of research of where I might want to dance. I've been looking up websites for different clubs. I was pretty sure that there was no lap dancing allowed in any of the areas around me, but when I go on the websites it mentions private dances. Just curious what the difference was so I'm prepared for when I go and audition. Thank you!

I think they're mostly the same...just different levels of contact. We have private dances where I work and your only supposed to touch the customers knees or shoulders and they can't touch you (how well these rules are followed...different story) and obviously, its in some sort of private or at least semi private setting. But I've been to clubs where a private dance was full contact, but when I was looking for a place to work, I just called and asked how much contact was allowed during PD's or LD's.

Thank you very much for responding! I thought they sounded pretty similar, but I just wanted to make sure. The different contact levels make sense. I was planning on going in this weekend to try out for a job. So, you usually call the places first? I was just gonna go in, but maybe I should call, just to make sure there is an opening.

Hi mckensy, just call and ask when they do auditions. When you go in to do your audition talk to the girls in the dressing room that seem friendly about what kind of contact is expected for that particular club

There may be a distinction depending on your club. In other clubs, they're the exact same thing.

Private dance sometimes means a dance you do for a customer in a secluded room away from the floor. In other instances, all "private" may mean is "just for one", even when the dance is done in a "public" area.

Lap dance usually refers to a dance that has some degree of contact to it, although I've seen no contact dances also referred to as lap dances.

You may also hear the term "table dance" which refers to a dance, sometimes with contact, sometimes without, done at the customer's table. Back in the olden days, it more often referred to a no contact dance done on top of the customer's table.

The term "private dance" is sometimes used as an umbrella term: it can refer to a lap dance, table dance in a room that's separate from the main club area(s), or a champagne room session. Most clubs in my area have stage/bar areas, a lap (technically table dance) dance section, and also champagne rooms that are booked by the half hour, hour, etc. Doc-catfish's descriptions are pretty accurate. Honestly, the difference between a LD and a PD in your club, if any, will probably be unique. How is the club organized? What state/local laws govern contact? Do the clubs enforce the laws? In my state, if a customer asks me for a private dance, I suggest the champagne room if I think he'll bite, but if not, then I'll take him for a lap dance. Technically we're not supposed to have any contact with the customers, but the clubs allow us light one-way contact (liquor commission rarely, if ever, bothers to enforce said laws beyond the occasional, superficial, tipped-off annual raid).

It can be confusing when you first start...observe the other girls in the club, ask about local laws, etc., but don't do anything you're not comfortable doing. Also, while some clubs might allow lap dances, there are cities/states that are vigilant. In that case, you have to weigh the risk vs. monetary benefit personally. I kind of went off on a tangent here...just wanted to bring up these minor points in case they're relevant to your location.
