    Default Holly Valance-ish tracks?

    Specifically resembling her song Hypnotic.

    As some of you know, my boyfriend is a SCDJ. Despite his incessant teasing about my SW addiction, he wanted me to ask everyone here for their suggestions. He needs new music for a girl he works with, and we are clueless electronic music junkies. We have a short list in the making which includes Sophie Ellis Bextor, Danni Minogue, and a few other names I can't remember at the moment. Before Holly Valance, she danced to Kylie Minogue. Thank-you in advance for your recommendations!

    Oh, and I'm on http://www.pandora.com right now, though I should have gone to bed hours ago.

    I have drunk entirely too much wine, a habit of mine after a busy night I fear--but the first song that comes to mind is Goldfrapp "Ride a White Horse", though that's not really like Kylie M. It's just something I have recently found and got hooked on. For all I know I got it from you, lol! I know I got Holly Valance from you, a couple of tracks, and it is excellent, as usual.

    Does she just like really good female vocals? Can she branch off from these types of music?

    Maybe I will be more clear headed tomorrow, sorry. It would be a pleasure to help out someone as helpful as you have been, that's for sure...

    Holly Valance was actually recommended to me by another SW member, so I can't take credit there.

    The poor girl has been dancing to the same two Holly Valance songs, every set, for a while now. (Possibly because she doesn't speak very much English, and it's easier for her to recognize when she is on stage by her music). She was thrilled when he first played those for her, replacing her Kylie stuff. She is particular about her music, so he's going to make a cd with a bunch of random stuff he's never played at the club, for her to choose from. I'm guessing she digs on the female vocals and sexiness, but she doesn't like electronic ("techno") music.

    Feel free to make any suggestions Djoser, as they are all greatly appreciated. I totally forgot about Goldfrapp. duh

    And p.s. It is tomorrow!

    Impishtelena, maybe? She has a lot of good stuff like the Goldfrapp-Holly Valance-type sound, and maybe it was HER I got the Goldfrapp from, lol! I forget now, sorry.

    Can she do rock at all? What about Snake River Conspiracy? Lords of Acid? Or Old School maybe, like the hot old Berlin song "Sex"? Or for the sexy shit try some Delerium maybe?

    I try to experiment on slow nights and let them know I am doing that--even the ones that don't speak English (most of them, actually) will get the point if I am patient enough. Not on busy nights, though--then you just go with what works sometimes, lol...

    Groggy meself....early sux......I always seemed to put IIO in the Brit.Spear/Kylie category and got no complaints.....diff music category but the vocals are similar....someone on here mentioned Stacey Q in a convo which made me remember she was in a techno outfit prior to be solo....I'll edit in the bands name after my coff/cig breakfast of champions.

    SSQ....holy frick 1983-4...I can still remember college radio/cheesy synth pop bands from the blasted early eighties....aaaarrrrgh.........anyhoo SSQ - "Synthiside"
    this album is the grandmother of the Kylie style synthpop style. See if you can download a sample of these songs on album (as always you can PM me and Ill send on SLSK);

    Jet Town
    Tonight (We'll Make Love Till We Die)
    N'Importe Quoi ..... (My choice for shits & giggles timewarp factor!!)
