    Default Sleepwalking

Okay, I generally don't do this. It's probably happened... not even five times in my life and mostly when I was a kid... I think.

I slept over at my bf's house last night... I woke up in the middle of my sleepwalking episode in his dark bathroom wondering where the hell I was until I practically fell into the toilet. It is seriously the creepiest thing EVER to wake up STANDING in some dark room, fumbling for some sort of door. Amazingly, I fell right back asleep.

Has anyone else had any problems with this? I've done a bit of research online and it says that people with psychological trauma are the one's that sleepwalk. I mean... I have my problems and those creeps at work pissed me off last week, but I don't consider myself traumatized or anything, lol.

    Anyone have any input?

Did you take any ambien, other drugs, or alcohol that would make sleepwalking more likely? That would be totally creepy!

That would definitely creep me out, too. I'm sorry you got spooked! I've never had something like that happen to me, but I've always been fascinated with the subject of sleepwalking.

I used tp sleepwalk all the time ,since before I could even walk I was going nuts in my sleep. I used to lock myself outta the house and wake up outside crying to get bk in. Since I moved out of the house I grew up in and with my now husband (like 10 years ago) the occurences became less likely and I would only sleep walk after we had an argument. Now, it happens like once a month, but it's not bad maybe I will wake up standing by the bed or something.

OMG I did this last night!!! I slept over at my boys place and apparently I was having full conversations with him, then I shot straight up in bed in tears and woke up standing at his door. He said it was the creepiest thing ever lol.

I had taken a sleeping pill last night though before bed so im thinking thats what caused it.

We'd been at a club and I was really drunk... But I've been really drunk tons of times and that's never happened. I've never actually woke up outside of my bed. I only know I've sleepwalked because my mom told me... but I always made it back to bed before.

I sleepwalk quite often. As a child it would be more frequent and severe...like I would wake up on the neighbor's porch swing or sometimes walk two blocks to the main road and try to get into the store. (Thank God is was not a 7 11 and they were closed) I NEVER sleep naked!

I notice that when I do sleepwalk as an adult it is usually when I have had a very busy and/or stressful week. My husband will wake up to find me in the strangest places and just gently guides me back to bed. I have even made phone calls to people and I don't remember any of it (they usually think I have been drinking)

Ambien is very bad for this condition. I took this one time and my 8 year old found me sleepwalking downstairs. When she started asking me questions I just fell back, stiff as a board and pulled shelves down with me. I scared the hell out of her. Prescription flushed.

It is very scary and I feel for you. It may be the combination of the drinking and in an unfamiliar place. I frequently wake up in the bathroom. Maybe the urge to pee is stronger that the nudge to wake up.

I only sleepwalk to sleepeat. I never remember doing either, and I always end up back in bed without waking. I dunno much about why I do it (beyond my stomach of doom wanting food) or how to stop it.

Sleepwalking is common in children 10-15% uncommon in adults(< 1%) and as a disease is a parasomnia("with sleep"). If drugs are involved esp hypnotics(Ambien etc) all bets are off and its really secondary to the meds. Alcohol does affect sleep patterns and may have been the cause. In adults it may be associated with stress or other psychological/emotional issues. If its an ongoing problem with no drug use(prescription or otherwise) see a sleep specialist and have an overnight sleep study(in the outpatient dept. with video to monitor abnormal activity). Good luck hope this helps

oh, i understand this completly! I sleepwalk all the time. i actually set off my own alarm one time. I woke up by the pool once,Sitting outside of my car, etc. when i take sleeping pills, it helps me to not sleepwalk for whatever reason. When i dont take them i usually do. it always helps to write down everything you need to do the next day or whatever is on your mind, so your mind can relax.
