    Stripping back in the day...

I've always been obsessed about the 60's and 70s for some reason....the music, the cars, the styles, the acheritecture, the culture, everything!

i always wondered if maybe i was a stripper bak in the late 60s or something in a past life...ha.

i was trying to look for information online about strippers and the strip club scene back in thsoe days..but i cant find much!

i mean i figure it was more taboo n much different back then..and so ive been interested to know about it.

i even wonder how dancing was like in the 80s?

well if u know any info, websites, etc..pleaae do tell!

if not, n if u danced in the 80s or know someone who has..maybe u can share a few stories and make some comparasions of the scene back then and today?

    thanks !

when I first got into dancing in the 90's, I heard a lot of stories from 'older' girls who had danced in the 80's. Basically, the 'world' of strip clubs changed forever with the invention of the lap dance (arguably in the mid 80's in Texas clubs) - which then came into widespread popularity throughout US clubs in the very early 90's. Prior to that, the club business models centered around stage shows, hustling customers for 'ladies drinks', and 'private parties' (the forerunner of VIP/Champagne rooms).

I actually worked at lots of clubs when I first started dancing that had not yet adopted the lap dance business model. In many ways I preferred it, since there was much lower contact and since guys actually tipped big time for a great stage show. Also, this was WAY before the existance of the internet, such that dancers didn't have to worry about customer 'reviews' of their club or particular dancers' lap dance mileage on stripclublist etc.

But in some ways the old business model sucked. For example, in order to really make money at some clubs, you were more or less forced to 'drink like a fish', because clubs imposed a 'ladies drink' quota and most customers would not buy 'ladies drinks' for dancers that weren't loaded with alcohol. Also, because of the 'private parties' (forerunner of VIP/Champagne rooms) as a large source of income, dancers who wanted to earn major money were forced to put up with cultivating big spending regulars ... with eventual consequences.
