I own a pair of 7 inchers and I do find them hard to walk in when I haven't worn them in awhile. I mostly stick with 6 inchers. I always get this style:

The y-shaped straps make them feel like they're a part of my foot.

I find a hot pair of boots gives me a lot of support.

These are the ones I dance in most of the time...

I usually wear 7 inch slip on clear shoes with 2 straps, but when I started dancing I always wore chunky heels because they were easier for me to walk in.
I still can't walk in those shoes with teeny tiny pointy heels with tips about as big as a Q tip.

Well, I rarely use 7 inchers, but as for what shape shoe is most comfy for me? Closed toe, closed heel, ankle or upper foot strap. Something like these (these are only 6 inchers though):

I love the look of the stiletto heel, but can't dance in them worth a shit! I have more balance and stability in the chunky heel, but wouldn't be caught dead in a pair!!! So for me, these offer the best of both worlds...the illusion of a skinny heel but with a wide base so I can get my groove on! The Cone Heel is my choice :http://snaz75.com/pl-sweet-401-2.html

I'm already tall, (5'8")... and I LOVE my 5" clear chucky heels!!! I wear matching ribbons and a garter with almost every outfit, too, to draw attention to my legs. I tie them around my shoes, ankles, and all the way up to almost mid- thigh. When I don't wear my ribbons, I wear the same style shoes that have ankle straps. I have weak ankles...so I need all the ankle support I can get!

    With my ribbons.....

    Without ribbons....

I love them! I think the highest I would ever go is 6"...but with non-chunky heels...but I do just fine with these.

I've found that comfort makes a BIG difference in ease of walking. I just bought Tony shoes and it's just SO much better! The ball of my foot feels better, so my balance is better.

    These:

^I think the next pair of shoes I buy will be some Tony Shoes. I've heard nothing but great things about them.

they look like they'd be very heavy and clunky when lifting your feet/using the pole, but I have no idea really....

I don't understand why people think walking in spike heels as opposed to cone or chunky is any harder.. just start out with spikes and then you'll never know the difference. I have no problem walking/dancing in 7inch spikes... but as far as my feet feeling good at the end of the night... that's a different story.. but I'm sure the level of discomfort is probably the same w/ every heel

Not ture! When i first started dancing (many moons ago)...there were no cone heels! I've always danced in the spiked or chunky heel, until about 3/4 years ago.

I was at Electrique Boutique looking for a new pair of heels, that's when I saw them!!! The Cone Heels....I asked to try a pair on and my feet have Thanked me ever since! Not to mention, I can do a lot more on stage...This is just my opinion, but I know for me, they've made a HUGE difference. I'll never go back to a spike/chunky heel again!

    (...esp. a chucky heel...1st they're just hideous & 2nd NOT Flattering at All...IMO)

^Girls...please! Everyone has their own damn preferences when it comes to shoes, it's just like when it comes to picking outfits. As long as I am comfortable, and my custys like what I wear, I could give 2 shits what other dancers think.

I definitely think I might switch to Tony's, I hate when the Pleaser's stretch out.
