no, but i've looked into it and used someone elses.

don't get a rough steel pole like you would find at home depot because it gives horrible pole burn! you need polished. if you can find a polished brass/stainless steel pipe, then go for it!

i had one made at a home improvement store once. we used galvanized pipe and phalanges to mount it to the floor and ceiling. never would i recommend swinging or doing pole tricks, due to it being rough. now that i own a lil mynx i'll never go back to homeade!

You could just get a steel pipe (around 1 1/2 circumference) from home depot and get it powder coated or brass/chrome plated for $50-100.

hmm i'd never thought of this before. where would you find someone to brass plate? i know plenty of automotive places where chrome plating is done, but chrome is too slippery.

haha, that was my first pole...the home depot special!

we sanded it though, so it wasn't rough.

i couldn't imagine using the galv. steel pipe again after using "real" ones!

ask djoser...he's got a homemade, jimmy rigged one! lolol

Here's some pictures that sort of show it:

Yeah, and it's a real bitch to use, lol! Very slippery, very tough to do anything. The one advantage of it is that it makes playing on brass much easier by comparison--so it's good for training I suppose (I have already noticed a big difference in control). I was just tired of trying to decide whether to get brass, or the portable pole that comes only in stainless steel, due to the height of my ceiling.

I was also going to experiment with trying to make a slightly flexible pole using composite construction, but that will require some serious thought and effort. I was in the Ace Hardware to investigate composite construction, and saw the electrical conduit pipes for like 8$. Why not, lol?
