What kind of extensions? I have Great Lengths and my hairdresser told me to use "Aveda Color Conserve" shampoo and conditioner and so far, no complaints! I think she said it's because they're very gentle and won't make the bonds loosen.

My hairdresser swore by Bumble and Bumble products. I still use them to this day. And their hair tonic is so refreshing on the scalp (has peppermint, so it makes ya feel tingly which is nice when you have those heavy things on your head).
I just used whatever. And lots of conditioner, or they get dry. And don't wash your hair a few days after you get them. Sleeping on a satin/sateen pillow really helps to prevent tangles. Sleep with your hair in a low loose ponytail.

Well, I'm not sure if that matters if you have Fusion...but for the hairlocs, mosturizing shampoo will cause slippage.
Yeah...Found this out AFTER I called my stylist in a panic asking why I've lost 10 strands in a week. He said 5-10 lost in 3 months was normal....
he'c comming tomorrow to put them back in and bring me good shampoo

And now you know why I don't have HairLocs anymore. My hair is very fine and I lost almost all of them within a month. Started wearing clip ins after that.
It was that stylist that recommended Bumble and Bumble because they don't contain silicone which can cause slippage.
But if you have fine hair, nothing's gonna help...it's something that will have to be maintained often. Don't let them lie to you.
I spent 2 grand on that hair. It was beautiful and my pic is still on their website (from the back). But, I couldn't afford to keep maintaining it, so out they went.
Hope yours are better for you!
My hair is very, very thick. So thick that I needed almost 300 strands.
The slipping seems to me that he didn't tighten them enough, because I complained when I lost 5 and he brough different shampoo to me, and they are still falling out, so he's comming back tomorrow with different shampoo, and to reapply and check everything.
This poor guy didn't know what he was getting into takign me on as a client. I've seen him 3 times already since I got the hair 2 weeks ago.
The first time I styled it in curls and it got tangled I went over there in a panic, LOL. And he says, sweetie, this is nothing. I can still detangle if I run my fingers through it. I was like..but why's it tangling in the first place?
Luckily..he does strive to keep me happy, he never charges for these visits, and gives me the products for free...
although I'm sure I'm annoying the hell out of him.
I just told him, Sorry if I'm bothering you...but $1600 for hair is expensive, and I was already anal about my hair, so I worry a lot...
I did by clip ins first, but my hair was to uneven to wear them, they just would not blend at all.
The right side of my hair is about 1 inch shorter than the left, and it's all around uneven and choppy.
*paying VERY close attention to the extension threads....*
I still think it was worth it. It looks completly natural, feels completly natural, I'm still very happy.
It's just that this isn't my real hair, so it is different, and I expected it to be just like the hair on my head. That's why I've been complaining so much to him. I expected this to be just an extension of my natural hair, with the same characteristics.
I'm also very picky. I will NOT look like thoes cheap ass strippers who have dreads and matting and shit cause they got cheap hair or did not care for it. Nothing looks trashier. I want perfection, or as close to it as I can get.

I know exactly what you mean about perfection. You get what you pay for and I loved them while they lasted. Thank God you're hair is thick...you shouldn't be having problems with them then.
Now suck it up and buy the good shampoo! The B&B line I recommended will cause no slippage. If you go with the seaweed conditioner, there is no weighing down or silicone products in it to cause slippage.
BTW, where's the darn pics???![]()

The hair comes from the supplier of the links. Hairlocs.
Apparently....
Cheap hair, like the kind used for Fushion extensions is noncuticle hair. Human hair has a cuticle that has to all go in one direction, or else it will tangle. It's a very timely and costly process to get the hair to go all the same direction. ( You got to make sure the root is still on top, and the ends are still the ends) I'm not sure how they do this, all I know is it's expensive.
So...with Fusion hair, it canot be reused, so they don't want to use the expensive cuticle hair. ( this also applies for cheap human hair. that's why it's cheap)
SO instead of takign the time to get the hair all the same direction, they instead just soak the human hair in some kind of chemical solution to disolve the cuticle off. This way...the hair can't tangle up because there is no cuticle going the wrong direction.
( You know how on the back of shampoo bottles it shows a pic of damaged hair that looks all roughed up, and then the soft shiny hair that's all smooth?)
Problem with stripping off the cuticle is that thi shair won't last very long at all before it starts getting to be a tangly, dull nasty mess. It looks great the first week or so, but then it's crap. So it's cheap.
Hairlocs hair can be reused several times because there is no chemical bonding, just the metal rings. So for ths reason, more expensive hair is used. The cheap hair would not last through several reuses.
Hairlocs hair is the closest thign to natural human hair.
Hairlocs only gaurentees their product when their hair is used, and when it is applied by a certified hairlocs person.
** I'm just repeating everything my stylist told me. He is the master colorist and extension person for MGM Grand, but it seems that a lot of people here are leery and feel that he is BSing me for some reason.
I'm just repeating what I've been told, and experienced first hand.
I've bought and used the Sally's human hair. It looked good for 3 days before it turned into crap. There is definatly a difference in different kinds of human hair, having experienced both, but now I knwo WHY there is a difference.
Maybe if I feel liek it I'll go off and research everythign he's tol me and see if I can find the facts to back it up.
About cuticle and noncuticle hair
^^Weren't the clip ins you bought also from Sally?? Just wanna point that out for anyone weary of clip ins. DO NOT go to Sally for ANY hair!!! If you make your own clip ins and double weft them, they will blend with pretty short hair.
Anyway, my point is DO NOT EVER BUY HAIR FROM SALLYS!!!!!
Yes, the clip ins and the hair I bought for Guen to put in were both from Sally's At the time, I didn't know that Sally's carried shitty quality.
