Default getting tickets to a sold-out show

so my most favorite band of all time the smashing pumpkins has reunited and is releasing their new album tomorrow. last month i moved to a different city and was without internet access so there was no way that i knew about the 5+ shows the pumpkins are putting on at the fillmore in san francisco this month. i read that the computer crashed because so many fans were trying to buy tickets. needless to say, all of the shows were sold out once i found out the pumpkins were coming to town.

there's some history to my situation. i lived in missouri for a few years as an adolescent and became friends with a classmate who turned out to be billy corgan's second cousin. i also befriended his family. in 2002 i was able to go with the corgan family to a zwan show and met billy and jimmy chamberlain. awesome! now that i live in california, the family and i are still in contact, but billy changes his email address and phone number constantly and he hasn't given my family friends his current contact information yet. so they haven't been able to help me score tickets.

i asked a dj friend to help me out as well by having him ask a manager at the fillmore to see what he could do. turns out that the manager doesn't work there anymore.

aside from shelling out tons of money for two tickets on ebay, how can i score some tickets?

If it makes you feel any better, it's not a real Smashing Pumpkins reunion. D'arcy won't be with them. It's just Corgan and Chamberlain calling themselves "Smashing Pumpkins." I'm a big Pumpkins fan myself but I'm not much interested in seeing this so-called "reunion" - it looks more like Corgan being a dickhead since his solo gig isn't working out.

it doesn't make me feel any better. the pumpkins survived without d'arcy. i just wish james was with them.

so what if it's only billy and jimmy? i will love my pumpkins, always.

do any of you djs have any ideas? there were no results for any of the san francisco shows on stubhub.

^ I got your PM and I'm going to look into it this week when Chris comes home from tour. Their his friends, just mine through default. I'll see what he can do..if mychem is playing with them. Although he had mentioned that they were.

    BTW check out Craigslist.

Well, in 1992 I hung out behind the club before a sold-out SP show until the singer from the opening band (which I adored) recognized me and snuck me in, so I recommend that. But I would shell out the $ if you looooove them, esp if you didn't see them back then and therefore have no good show memories to potentially ruin w/a bad one.

If you don't get any tix through connections there might be scalppers selling tickets outside. Get there earlier too. Someone might have an extra ticket to sell. Bring a sign that says that you need tickets too.
