Ooh wow! The front looks sick...

Buuuut is it just me, or do the side-door areas look a little too soccer mom and not enough sports car?

    I'm just being picky.

Looks good. It would look better without the spoiler. (I hate spoilers; they're ugly!)

That's friggn sweeeeet. I wanted one of those a few years ago, closest I got was a Lancer ES. Still was a great 'lil car though.

Nice body! I wish Honda or Acura would bring back their semi-sporty style. They all look like Fords to me now

The cheapest Lancer looks great enough. Don't need the spoiler.

It has the spoiler because it's the Evo. Lancer ES has a small optional spoiler.

I swear the redesigned front end reminds me of a Volvo.

Cute car. But you should buy an American car so that you are feeding the hand that feeds you. Unless you have tons of Japanese customers, that is.

Hubby works at a Mitsu dealership, so of course I love my '06 Lancer Es. I just got my car 4 months ago and am waiting to trade it in for an '08. I'd love an Evo but my insurance would be outrageous! They're fantastic cars.

It's skidding in the rain. I don't want it.

Um, AWD IS basically 4WD with 2 axles

"All wheel drive (AWD) is almost the same thing as full time 4WD - it is a system that powers all four wheels of a vehicle at all times as well. Full time symmetric AWD would be the best term to be used. Difference to full time 4WD is that a "4-low" setting is not available in AWD cars. Due to the lack of "low range" AWD vehicles are much less capable in off-road settings than full time 4WD vehicles, but work perfectly well on-road."

So unless you're primarily off roading, AWD is the best traction/ safest feeling on roads.

    More

"During everyday driving, in Subarus and Volvos, 90% to 95% of power is normally muted to the front wheels, and 5% to 10% to the back. If there is any wheel slippage, power is routed to the wheels that have traction. The result is a fast and well-mannered launch off the line"

And for the record, I looked at the OP pic again, and I don't see the car skidding at all. I see water, but no skid.

LM I'd be more worried about a Ford Falcon or Fairmont skidding in the rain, than a Lancer. Only the nutters that go drifting would be doing the skidding.

You need to go on a defensive driving course, then one of those advanced ones where you learn park break turns, and how to control a skid.

^What one too many times with my skidding story? Am I a stuck record?

LM, I think the point he was trying to make was that the Lancer with it's AWD is pretty safe if you're like you and nervous about safety
