What a shame, having to grow up and learn about the world so early in life.

that kid is going to be a fine man when he grows up... i can tell you that much..
look at his posture, and the look in his eyes, the very little you can actually see

it's true
you never truly know, but i'll bet my money on him...
i can relate to this kid...
i was a little younger when a similar tragedy happened to me, and it made me strong at a young age..
i "made it" , and didn't turn into some manic depressant who blames the world on his misfortunes like a lot of people do...

that happened to me when I was 6. It definitely shaped the way I looked at the world and death from VERY early on.
Actually, I wouldn't call that a "touching" picture. It's a very sad picture...and one that proves that this war that is being fought is unnecessary and bullshit.
I just want to hug that little boy.

I really hope that this kid doesn't grow up as a gov't hating, military hating, and/or Muslim hating nutcase. It's a distinct possibility but... damn.
It sucks so hard to lose a loved one at such a young age, believe me I know... but to lose someone in a violent manner? Ugh. I can't even fathom.

Damn, SteveK!
I wasn't expecting my emotional response to that picture...![]()
Like many young survivors, I had to be reminded that I was a Biafran War refugee as a child (even in 1967, the civil war in Nigeria was about oil).
Seeing the pain and strength reflected in that young man's face reinforces my belief that throughout history, wars continue to be the most barbaric and wasteful mechanism for reaping economic gain...

Poor little manHe looks so sweet and to have to feel that pain hurts me...
