    Default Ferrets

Are they crazy or what?! Mine has this thing with the fridge... If I open the fridge she FREAKS OUT! She wraps her paws around my ankle and flops her head around or just starts doing summersaults. I'm like, "Go away!" Oh, and she manages to get into EVERYTHING! She'll crawl into a cabinet, crawl up the back, push open some drawers from the inside... she can undo zippers... she steals my tampons! At the same time she's such a baby! She'll sit at the front door if I leave to take out the trash or something until I come back, she'll sit at my feet when I'm doing my make-up or cooking... She'll stand on her back legs and hug my leg when she's bored... I almost got another one when I was in Vegas last weekend... but I wouldn't have been able to bring it on the plane.

    Tell me about your ferrets!

LMAO Deni that video was funny!
I've always wanted a ferret but I can't get one because I have two cats
But when my house is built, I'll have a fenced in patio so maybe I can get one and just keep them separated, I don't know. But I love ferrets!!!

My pookiekins has always gotten along with other animals... She's in her cage most of the time anyways. You can have both if they get along because you don't have to worry about leaving them together and unattended.

Deni, I sent that video to everyone and they think I'm crazy now.

Ooooh cute! My ex and I did ferret rescue and had at one point 6 ferrets! Tazzie was the oldest and best and you could take him out in just your jacket pocket and he would charm the masses. Duncan was supposed to be albino, but after he saw all his cagemates but one die (before we rescued him), he lost all his fur. He was the cutest lil nakey ferret.

We used to let them out (not all at once) and put them on the water bed. They'd do the woozle war dance and fall over from the ripples. The ex and I often got on the bed as well and played peekaboo with them. Little blanket-hiders.

Awww- they sound SO CUTE!!! I've had lots of pets before, but never a ferret. Do you think a ferret would make a good playmate for my very naughty cat?

I guess it depends. My ferret got along well with my ex's cat.... once the cat got used to her. Generally, they'd just follow eachother around and the cat would jump somewhere high when she started getting annoying.

I had 2...we just recently had one put down..Cancer...I wish we could have saved him!

Olivia....7 yr old sable marshall....we have had her since she was a kit...6 weeks old. She would best be described as...Tiny..TERRIBLE...yet totally lovable!! She gets into EVERYTHING. Her favorite thing is our baby boy scottish terrier (we have 3)...She dooks at him...starts the war dance, hoping he will play with her. He is still a pup (15 weeks) so we limit their time together till he is better behaved. I dont want her hurting him!

Her fav food is Peanut Butter...open the pantry..and there she is right at your feet. She knows what the jar looks like..and goes ape for it, springing up! She can almost spring 3 feet up!

Our boy was a 6 yr old Chocolate Bear. He was the monster..but you couldnt help but love him. He kissed you, and would hold your chin in his paws to get a better angle to kiss you!

His fav food was raw potatoes. He would steal the bag out of the pantry and drag it to the hidy hole!! Imaging a 6lb ferret dragging a 10lb bag of potatoes backwards!! Hilarious!!

They loved the bath tub! It was a full on WWF match between them...thankfully that was how they played. Oscar would also poop in the tub when he had enough of the play time...he knew we would take them out immediately!

We go camping every year at the same location (7 yrs now), the people know us there as the "Fuzzy Family". We would take them for walks on leashes and let them play at the beach....they could trench for miles!!!

Oscar was with us until June 14. Olivia went through a bit of a hard time, she refused to eat or drink. We had to change the entire content of the condo...yes condo!! They..now she...has a 3 level ferret condo, ladders, hammocks, tubes, bell balls..and the Strawberry..it holds all the treats.

We thought about getting another ferret to keep Olivia company...but the vet informed us that unless you introduce them before 3 years...there is no use!!

    I miss my boy.

I'm sorry you lost a woozle, Alena. I found out a bit ago that all 6 of the ferrets the ex and I had died of pancreas issues or old age. They have such health probs.

We did have issues with the 2 newest ferrets and the 4 older ones getting along, possibly because of the ages, but you might be able to get a baby ferret to go with your oldster, since she'd be able to establish dominance, but I am far from a ferret professional! I believe mine were 7ish, 6, 4, 4, 1 and 1 when the ex and I broke up.

I want to see ferret/scottie video!

    Ferrets are so cute.

My cousin's ferret ran away and then walked into a local milk bar, to the shock of the store owner.

hehehe my rats do that with open liquids... coffee stains on the rugs, etc. Sorry about your fav. drawer.... that sucks!

I will probably end up getting a ferret at some point... I LOVE my ratties, I'm used to having smart/playful/funny rodents around... they are high-maintenance, too... and they get BORED so easily I have to keep 'em entertained!!! Bella I hear ya about "getting into things!" The rats get into EVERything... cabinets.... the plastic bags under the sink (they love making noise...) shredding newspaper... My fav. rat rides around in my purse with me in my car. And on the street when I want company. He just chills in there. I love it! Could a well-trained ferret do that too?

god now I'm back to wanting a ferret. My bf doesn't like them though because he says they stink (which sometimes they do, but w/e, he stinks sometimes and I don't get rid of him) and they get into everything (also tru but so do puppies). I grew up with a ferret my sister found in the wall of our apartment. The vet was awesome and had it on record as a small cat (ferrets were illegal in Mass. I don't know if they still are). He was the best pet ever...then he ate a flip flop and died and I've always wanted to have one again...

I have a dark eyed white named Falkor, and a sable named Jill Valentine. Falkor is deaf and very mellow and cuddly. Jill is a fucking bandit! She gets into everything and fucks shit up.

My Tazzie used to steal the socks out of the hamper and eat them! And nibble toes. Definitely a former foot perv.

What is this "well-trained ferret" that you speak of? I've heard of ferrets like that... but the only one I've seen do it was really old and he didn't move much anyways,

Ferrets are illegal in CA (which is really stupid) so I wouldn't recommend carrying it around outside (although nothing will probably happen... it's not a good risk). Legally, vets don't have to report them so you can get them medical treatment... and there's a ferret isle in every petstore. A lot of people have them. I bought mine in a petstore in Yuma, AZ.. it was petsplus or something like that.. Don't go there. When they spayed mine, they left in an ovary... the surgery (and figuring out what was wrong with her) ran me well over 1k. I can't imagine anyone else who might have bought her instead of me would have paid that much. (oops, that kind of turned into a rant)
