    Default Headstand on stage

There's a few girls at my club who do headstands on stage and it looks really really good. But they don't use their hands, they do it with their elbows and forearms on the floor, so they're not really standing on their head. Then they do cool stuff with their legs. Anyone do this?

How would one do this? Do you lock your ancle around the pole to get yourself up there?

The easy w ay is to lock your leg around the pole, use it to stabilize you while bringing the other leg up. For EXTRA stability, i recommend making your forarms into a triangle. Your hands ar e the point, and hold the base of the pole, and your elbows are the other two points. For some reason, when you hold the pole, it helps engage the muscles in your arms, i think its mostly psychological. but it works, until you have stregnth and flexibility to do it without the pole(I play aruond as a contortionist, so i have a headstart.)

Once you get used to it though, its just like any other handstand, just engage the muscles and kick up. (and now i wish i could talk someone at the club into snapping photos for y'all. I dont want to bring my camera though, and i dont have a camera phone)

But yeah, if you practice handstands against a wall it will help to feel what needs to be engaged.

Yea that does look good. And it looks good when you do it and wind your hips too...so sexy.
I want to try it but I'm scared! How hard is it to get a hang of? I mean, I'm pretty flexible, and I caught onto pole work after not even a month.

It took me about 2 months to get the nerve to try to do it correctly and succeed. Until then I halfassed it.
