Default Just got hired at the biggest club in my area - dumb newb question

So I just got back from my audition (which I didn't think they would hire me since they've got pretty high standards) and I got hired at a club I really care about working at. The manager (who's been a stripper for 10 years) couldn't tell it was my first time ever - I'm so stoked and kinda proud of myself!

However, onstage during the second song I was really starting to get tired out and running out of things to do. How can I make the "getting used to this" process go faster, and how long does it usually take? Are there any specific exercises and stretches I could do, and should I take it easy in my downtime or keep up the exercise level?

Also, please tell me walking in these crazy heels gets easier. I'll be damned if I don't break an ankle by the end of my first month

The heels do get easier. I danced for one night and by the end of the night, the shoes were merely extensions of my feet.

Congrats on getting hired! The first few weeks will be tough on your body, but after that you get used to it. Your endurance will build up over time and you won't get as tired so quickly. My biggest concern is my feet. Dancing is really hard on your feet. I get regular pedicures and will often buy stuff to take care of them at home (scrubs, creams and slippers with gel insoles).

Wear the shoes at home as well. Especially for stuff like cleaning-helps you get used to them quicker. But do spend some time in flatter shoes as well to keep your calves stretched.

I tend to just to basic stretches before work-the kind you'd have done in PE in school, but yesterday I did a Pilates class before work and I felt a LOT looser. Exercise is good, but time to collapse in bed is important-don't wear yourself out! There's lots of threads on exercise and stretching on SW. Check out Body Business. Good luck!

Thanks guys! I'll poke around a bit more. I was more looking in the other sections for "holy hell what am I supposed to act like" that I didn't even think about going to body buisness haha.

You'll learn. Most of us just get thrown up there with no idea what to do and just learn by watching other dancers. I mean, you shouldn't directly imitate, but you'll see how to move fluidly and learn some basic moves.

Try taking a couple of breaks during your shift. Take off your shoes and move those little piggies around. And, yep your body will be sore for a week or so. Most girls get some bruising on knees and other areas. Epsom salts help some. Just pace yourself; and, you'll be fine. Lots 'o luck!
