Whats up guys, how many of you use Q tips to clean inside of your ear? I only clean the outside part but im tempted to clean the inside. I hear some people say its ok to do that while others swear not to. What do you guys do?

well, they say don't stick Q-tips in your ear. I have personally met someone who punctured her eardrum and woke up in a puddle of blood. I stick 'em in my ear after every shower and have for years. I just don't push them in too far.
^^^ Wow. Did she lose hearing in that ear???

I stick em in to. You can't get the wax out f you don't put the q tip in. Sorry..but I ain't running around with wax in my ears.
Yeah, you can puncture yrou eardrum. Just don't shove it in to deep or hard.
wow...that whole thing I wrote seems a little to sexual concidering I'm talkin bout ear wax.
Yes, I put them in all the way. I figure the directions not to are for people who like... are babies or don't know what they're doing... as a safety precaution.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

too true. if you're dumb enough to stab your own ear drum with a poking stick, you kinda deserve whatever you get.
my ears fill with water whenever i wash my hair so i always soak it up with cotton tips... the trick is not to stab haphazardly or go too deep.
this does sound sexual... what the hell is that about?

the thing is though is that by sticking them in, you are actually compacting the wax in your canal...which can impair hearing eventually, or possibly lead to an ear canal infection. which are not fun. my oldest wears hearing aids and he's had an infection in there because he makes SO much wax (way more than normal, i actually have to take him in periodically so they can go in and get it all out) and it got impacted in there. poor thing was bleeding and he couldn't wear that hearing aid for like 2 weeks.
what you need to do is just get an ear wax removal kit, they cost like 10 bucks and will last many months. it softens the wax and you just blow it out with the bulb syringe and use the qtip for cleaning the edge of the canal and outside it.

Or you could just use some hydrogen peroxide. Pour about half a capful, let it sit for a moment, and then turn your head and dump it out. Swab with a q-tip on the outside if necessary.
Nothing smaller than your fingers should go in your ears. Ever.
I go to a ear dr, and he said never push the qtip into the ear because it will push the wax down and will clog up the ear. What he told me to do was use light baby oil and run it under warm water and place 3 drops in your ears everyday and don't rinse out. This will help the wax to not stick in your ear. Has been working very well for me, and he is one of the top 100 ear dr's in az.
Meh, i've always taken great delight in sticking a Q-tip in my ear. Of course I have wicked allergies and get that snnoying tickle/itch in my ear and a good Q-tipping feels devine.
As to the question about ruptured eardrums and loss of hearing...
My eardrums have both been ruptured multiple times (non - Qtip related) and I can still hear.![]()
no, she said she didn't. I think she had some buzzing but I guess it healed up.^^^ Wow. Did she lose hearing in that ear???

I have swimmers ear and my doctor told mme to use a 1/1 combo of rubbing alcohol and vinager. Alcohol because is is a good wax removing agent and saps up the water, while drying quickly and vinager to restore the PH balance.

I didn't bother to read past the first few posts.
People who puncture their eardrums are not dumb.. it's called an accident!!! Hello people...wake up.. one lady I heard about was cleaning her ears in the bathroom and when her husband opened the door he pushed her elbow with the door and she punctured her eardrum! I seriously doubt most of these injuries occur due to intelligence level!
But since we are on the topic.. you are NOT supposed to clean your ears with q-tips AT ALL. The ears are a self cleaning organ just like your vagina and using q-tips actually pushes the wax in and hardens it making things worse, not better. Ever since I read that (in several respectable health sources) I stopped using them in my ears. And nobody can SEE the ear wax in my ears...hahah that's just plain hilarious. Come on ladies...
I second the peroxide thing! It feels really weird, but works.
"By 'them' do you mean people like me?"
I can see wax in my boyfriend ears all the time. It grosses me out.And nobody can SEE the ear wax in my ears...hahah that's just plain hilarious. Come on ladies...
You can't see in your own ear canal, but other people can.....
yeah, peroxide works well, and oddly feels good.

I personally have never seen wax in anyone's ears! I'll look harder lol

Hehehe guess I am not as observant as others!
