Default Best Self Tanner Hands Down

Okay it's my opinion, but I have had a lot of experience, the L'oreal sublime bronze self tanning gel is the shit. It is a gel, not a lotion, so it dries a lot faster and seems to spread around really nicely so I don't get any streakage. It also, somehow does not have that super strong self tanner smell. Results show up really quickly and it lasts a long time too.

I love it. It's a cheaper one too, I used to by the $20 and up department store stuff.

This stuff does work well. The color shows up a little at a time. So you're not getting the fake tan look right from the start.

This stuff works really well tan wise, but it's far too greasy for me.

It works well for me color wise...but if I go to the gym I find it sweats off...inside my socks, on my towel...ewe...in my shorts. I even waited 24 hours before going.

I have found it was the best as well.

It does sweat off, but the color and evenness I get make it ok.

I second that. I love it. Yeah it may rub iff on my clothes, but it does wash out really well.
I also like how shimmery it is too.

The new formula does not rub off! It dries in like 2 seconds and is not greasy at all.

The only complaint I have with this stuff is the way your skin looks when the tan fades, not pretty!

^That right there is my biggest problem with the self tanners.... the fade in weird spots. Elbow creases, bikini line crease, etc.

I tried this stuff before, and was pretty greasy, but if they changed it a bit, I'll give it a go again, because I did like the color.

Agreed I use the lotion before bed and the mist on my back, then blow dry and sleep.

I will give it a try if it's a new formula, but I much prefer the aerosol stuff to lotion. Have they reformulated their spray??

k im a tanning fiend!! i tan way to much but i NEED IT. this is my routine that ive been doing for years and ive found all the products that work best.

first you need a base tan and i go to a tanning bed every other day(way too much but im addicted)you should probably only go 2 or 3 times a week. i use a none bronzing lotion in the bed because i use bronzers at home.

after i shave and exfoliate (every other day) i use l'oreal sublime bronze gel
and i 100% agree with you holiday. after my many years of tanning this is the best even better than all of the expensive brands i used to buy! make sure it has the bronzer in it though and girls you should all try the new formula its tons better.
i used to wait an hour for the old one to dry this one drys almost instantly!

i dont put it on my feet, hands, face, and i cant reach my center back.

i use neutrogena aerosol spray tanner with level 2 bronzer on my feet and back.
then i use neutrogena instant bronze on the top of my hands.
i finish my makeup and use mac bronzer in bronze.

total tan freak but i have a great color. LOTS of maintenance but this is just what i do.

sorry if this was tmi but i thought id share. =)

Has anyone found a self tanner that doesn't look like hell when it fades? I've tried some that are really easy to use and look great, but the patchy fading thing is miserable. I thought it might be a dry skin thing, so I make sure I moisturize religiously. Do any of you think exfoliating every day would help or make the fading worse???

I use this stuff. The lotion or the spray works well; when choosing spray or lotion its just a preference. Doesn't fade all funky either. I'm already brown but its that extra glow. The white girls at work use pretty often.

i love it, but i basically can't find it anywhere. there's one place i bought a couple at, but that was probably 2 weeks ago. and i saw it at a walmart (in a black neighborhood) on sale. at stores that don't have it, there isn't a picture of it or a place to put it or anything on the sublime bronze displays.

i've got some bottles left, but it really seems like it's gone. so now, you guys saying there's a new formula has me really, really hopeful.

as for the fade...if i've got a natural tan underneath it, the fade isn't bad at all. i've just got to make sure to exfoliate everyday or close to it. the most helpful thing though is that i've started using (because of it's current scarcity here) a much lighter coat...i had no idea i was using so much more than i needed. and i rub it in better, even patting with a paper towel if an area is still shiny after ten minutes or so. since i've been doing this, the weird fade up and down my arm near the elbow has basically stopped. the less horrible looking fading problems are gone too.

katie...for the hands and feet, the gelee is actually really good. you just have to be careful. i rub vaseline on my feet (and rub the excess off the top before applying tanner). when i'm done with my body, i wash my hands, put on vaseline, rub most off of the areas i want color, then i put some tanner on the back of one and rub it in like that...hands, fingers, thumbs, wrists...it's taken some practice, but at this point, it looks damned believable. and my total tan time comes to about 10 minutes.

K bitches I went and bought this stuff b/c of this thread. I better have a good tan later tonight! It's not nearly as greasy as it used to be, thank God. Still a little sticky, but I guess that's just the way self tanner is. So far, so good, I hope it gives me a really dark tan! I got the "deep" color in the gel formula.

That's the one. I hope it works well! But you know, I do have to say towards the last days of the tan, it streaks a bit on me, only on my lower legs, I must be dry there or something.

Let me know what you think. And, dd you notice how it doesn't smell as self-tannery?

i second this. Also, the smell is not bad. Every tanner i have used smells horrible and i have tried everything. This is great!

I dont like it. I didn't find it had even coverage at all.

I love St Tropez mousse or spray. The colour is beautiful.

That SUN Labs stuff is great for darker skin. That stuff comes out like chocolate, lol. It's really expensive though and a pain in the ass to get it all even.

Holiday - this formula is so much better! Barely smells, no greasiness!

The only time I ever had a problem with weird fading spots was when I was using a body puff when I was traveling, instead of my usual natural bristle body brush when i shower. My tan never lasts more than 3 or 4 days without needing to be redone (more if I use it in combo with sublime glow) becasue of the body brush, whereas my old roomate who consistently used a puff (said natural bristles would scratch her skin too much) could make hers last about a week, but she had brown spots from hell.

I wish they made a "super deep" color, lol. I need another application, I think. But I'm happy with the reformulation of this stuff, it's so much better. No stickiness, greasiness, and it actually smells kinda nice. It still has a tiny bit of that self tanner smell, but what can ya do? I usually always need two applications of drugstore stuff, but I'm happy that this stuff is easy to use.

    Thanks for the rec!
