My mom detoxed by drinking only water and juice for about a week, and only ate fruit and veggies. Eliminate all alcohol and smoking.
Cleansing is good, but maybe you need to look at diet and nutrients in order to clear your skin up?
Have you checked out curezone.com - lots of different forums there and all different cleanses, it might be helpful to have a browse.
I really like the liver flush, Ive done a few and I always feel great afterwards!
If it's just your skin you are concerned about, why not see a dermatologist???

ive seen a derm. they told me i should do a detox, though they didnt explain what kinds there are and what they do/how to do them etc. i just wanted some ideals, and wanted to know what everyone has tried and the results. thank you guys who have helped!

I've struggled with acne for years, since i was 11. Of course, as I got older different things caused it. These days it is much more hormone driven than anything else, but I have had a child. I went to a derm for 4 years as a teenager; NOTHING worked. Even accutane. One of the drugs they gave me dried out my lips permenantly, which gives me hell trying to find a lipstick that will cover that problem up. But,that's another story.
The only things that worked for me when I was in my 20s were two things that many say are not effective or good for you. I am not saying they are a good idea; but they worked for me.
1) Fake nails.
Yes, fake nails. It kept me from unconciously scratching and picking; and since they were not as sharp and bacteria-ridden as my real nails; I couldn't break the skin and spread the bacteria around my face and body. A week after my first set; my face was clear. I was estatic.
2) Tanning
I am 1/8th Cherokee, although you wouldn't know it really to look at me except my slight skin undertone; but this works for me; and I think that's part of the reason why. It may or may not work for you; and again; I am not saying it's a cure-all. But it does help a lot of girls.
I also seemed to clear up a lot when ever I went to the beach. Maybe try dissoving some sea salt in water and spraying your face/ body? Maybe even before and after you tan also. Or take salt baths. There was a thread on those at the acne boards.
Speaking of; the acne boards have been a godsend for me. I have another thread here in BB about how Head and Shoulders cured my bacne; but you didn't say you have that problem. Check them out over there at acne.org ; lots of great ideas.
**HERE's what has lately been my other great help: Milk Thistle. Clears out your liver. Keep on it daily. I have been having great results with it, but I am 34.
I know how it is; and I know how you feel. I hope you can find something that will work for you. Good luck.

I experienced my first cystic acne experience in January when I used a shampoo I must've been allergic to. My entire back was covered in painful lumps with only a few having whiteheads. I switched to organic hair and body products and waited several months. but it wouldn't go away on it's on, so I started using Persagel 10% Benzoyl Peroxide on it three times a day. It was gone in less than a month. I stopped using the cream and so far so good.
I always use Persagel on my face because I've had permanent mild/moderate acne since I was twelve. That's the only stuff that always works, but it is drying so I use a rich organic cream to keep the wrinkles away.
I also switched to Desert Essence Tea Tree Oil face wash with great results.

I think it's good to work the indside of your body too. Your skin refelects on certain things you take in.![]()
Kenzi, here are a couple of things I can suggest.
~ I've heard about fasting for 24 hours then drinking hot water with lemon. Suppose to work, never tried that myself.
~Also, there is a type of Yoga that can detoxify your body. I believe it's Bikram.
~If you are brave, look into colonics.
~Acupunture is also a great idea. I've read on how some ppl have treated thier hormornal acne with acupuncture. Maybe you can get a detoxification too while you're at it.

thanks again to those who have helped,im going to look into everything you have suggested. lildreamer im also 1/4 Cherokee,my grandma on my dads side was full blooded cherokee.
There are many detox systems you can purchase through health food stores. Also, adding lemon juice to room temp water...and drinking good amounts of it daily (don't over do it...though). Fasting isn't always a good thing though, but if you're taking vitamins and drinking a good amount of water w/fresh lemon juice thats a good startgood luck

I've found if I eliminate grains and refined sugar from my diet, I can keep my skin baby clear.
Sounds weird, I know, but it works for many other people on in their forums, so I'm not the freak exception.

um, just wondering, but what does being part cherokee have to do with having acne? or does it?

I want to look at that curezone website, that sounds awesome!
go raw vegan for 2 weeks
bikram yoga sweats toxins out
