    Default Annoyed with crowds

It seems as though everywhere I go lately it's so damn crowded. I just got back from Target and it was so crowded you could barely move. I couldn't wait to get my stuff and get the hell out of there. Does anyone else get really annoyed when in crowds of people?

Green, I forgot where I heard this, I think it was a TV show but it hit it right on the head.

A person, is msart, level headed, well thought out, polite, etc....

When you have a group of poeple they become annoying, selfish brood that will panic at just about anything.

...so yes I can't stand crowds and tend to stay away....let me rephrase that, I stay away from annoying people....however, sometimes you just have to realize that you are going to meet up with them. I work in Boston and Spring to fall is tourist season, I understand it, and expect it......

I think overall it is a lack of common-courtesy in this society....

oh man, it's like you're reading my mind...or my recent blogs.

i-hate-crowds/mobs. i don't go into costco anymore because of it. i dread doing my food shopping because of the "people". yech.

i agree i just hate the overall nastiness that seems to be out there.

i refuse to even mix with people because of the general discourtesy and attitude i constantly see. everyone has a frickin' chip on their shoulders.

i refuse to reciprocate it back though because then i'd just be a hypocrite and just like them. but the effort to stay nice/courtesy while others are in full-blown ahole-mode is just too stressful.

so i try to pick the non-busy times to shop, workout, or just stroll.

but seriously, nowadays i hate people. i like my friends, some of my family , and a small minority of courtesy/polite and respectful people that are still out there. but imho, the majority of the population can go to hell in a handbasket.

wow, that was just like my typical rantings...uh, i mean blogs. i feel much better.

Have any of you noticed how the crowd doesn't have to be particularly big to become a "crowd". I noticed how agitated I became at the store the other day when I was shopping and in this store with a jillion items and a hundred aisles there always somebody stopped in front of that one item that I just had to have, staring into space, and it took about three "excuse me" comments, each louder than the one before, to get them out of my way. And let me tell you, those self-checkouts are a Godsend, except when they're all occupied. They should build more of them.

I've come to the conclusion that part of the reason that we've become hostile to crowds is because the comforts (namely the comfort of instant convenience) that our society affords us have made us become too insulated. Back in the old days, waiting in line was just something that you accepted. Nowadays, its "I gotta run" and a raised middle finger to anyone who can't read your mind and as a result gets in your way and costs you that green light, or an extra fifteen seconds in the express lane, or blocks the door to the supermarkets freezer where they keep the fudge bars.

You just gotta blow that sort of stuff off sometimes. The added stress and cortisol in your veins just isn't worth shortening your life span over.

I know. Easier said than done.

The real problem is the people who are there without a purpose, just wandering around taking in the surroundings. I never understood the fun of window shopping ( or shopping in general ). Buy what you want/need and go.

Your rant, errr...blog, umm...post reminded me of the movie "Barfly" (1987) and this priceless exchange between Wanda (Faye Dunaway) & Henry (Mickey Rourke):

Wanda: I can't stand people, I hate them.
    Henry: Oh yeah?
    Wanda: Do you hate them?
Henry: No, but I seem to feel better when they're not around.

Yep..I try to shop on off days or times because of this. Not to mention howmuch I HATE waiting in line for longer then it took to gather the items I was buying.

Oh yeah, it seems like when a place is crowded, everyone has a "me first" attitude like they're the only ones in the store. I find that it makes it easier to mentally make fun of them. Like the 400 pounder that nearly mows you over with their cart just so they can get to those f*cking cookies (yes I've seen it happen). It's always a race to the checkout aisle too. You see the open aisle...there's no one around...you *think* about going to it and before you know it 15 people come out of nowhere knocking you out of the way to get there first lol. I feel your pain green. Which is why I moved

OHHHHHH YEAH. I hate people as a general rule, but I REALLY hate crowds of people.

Well, Americans, really. I don't mind crowds of Australians or other well-mannered people. But most Americans are assholes even under the best of circumstances, and when you put a crowd of them in one place it's just a recipe for misery.

^^Yekhefah might I so kindly request you stay out of the darker recesses of my mind.

I hate crowds, and well after work, I hate people in general, especially when I have to talk to more, about house sales and shit.

If I had a fortress of solitude I'd be in it for a few hours after work. I just try and concentrate on the good persons.

I find it quite amusing if you start fucking with their minds......like racing down aisles, purposely blocking an item from their view,

when people on my train sit near me and decide to have a loud conversation on their phone I joi in on the conversation so the person who's on the phone gets the hint

"So John did do that!?? Get out of here!".....

I get a strange look from the person but I can usually amuse one or two people around me

^^Now that would have been fun, luckily I rarely saw it in Melbourne.

I am REALLY hating people at the moment. I'm staying at a hostel up here, and thank heaven I paid a little extra for a private room. This is my first night off so I was really looking forward to some peace and relaxation. But no, it's Sunday night and there was a little rain, so instead I am staying in a fucking frat house. The kitchen sink is full of Pabst Blue Ribbon, there is bad music thumping all over the house and junk food everywhere, and I can't sit on the porch and relax like I wanted because there is a horde of drunks passing around Jack Daniels and marijuana and loudly swapping prison stories. I tried to ignore it but to no avail. Now I'm holed up in my bedroom, where it is sweltering hot.

Oh, and some dickhead drank half my bottle of wine and threw away the cork. Fucker. Apparently I worked hard all week to buy this asshole half a bottle of wine. I haven't taken anyone else's food even when I was starving, but now I wish I had. Man, I really hate people.

I could sit out there and feign social interest in these guys' domestic violence convictions, but I've been doing that all week at work and damned if I feel like doing it for free on my night off. I really wish I could just sit on the fucking porch and relax. I'm paying twice as much per night as these assholes, but THEY get free wine and the run of the house.

I avoid crowds by shopping at like 10 a.m. on a Monday. Most adults are at work during that time, so the most annoying thing I usually find are a few moms with unruly toddlers. But it's still far better than trying to fight the evening or weekend crowds.
