Default Need to change my look

I'm bored with my hair and my face. I wish I'd never gotten this perm. Does anybody have any suggestions to perk me up a little bit?

    Edited to add:

Actually, I like the perm. But it is much more work than I thought it would be, and now I am in the stage where the roots have grown out, so it looks all flat and wimpy on top. My hair seems to have only 2 speeds: flat, wimpy, and product-laden, or else dry and flay-away with no curl. I got the perm in the first place so I could do curling-irons and hot rollers, and have the styles stay in my hair, not just fall out in a matter of hours. But now patches of my hair look so dry, I'm afraid to use any heat styling equipment.

I am a dud with makeup. I can't seem to find any looks that I like. Lately I have been using a bronze eye shadow and purple liner, which does nice tings for my eye color (green). But it's a very under-stated look. I seem to do better with less make up, but still . . . . I feel like I sohld be doing something more. Or at least different.

I like your root color, maybe change haircolors. I have been a blonde for years but recently went brunette. It was a nice change and really makes my eyes "pop". Plus, you can always go back.

Maybe try a whole new makeup scheme... smokey eyes and glossed up lighter lips? You can do a search on smokey eyes makeup if you need to. After reading some stuff online, I experimented one night I had nowhere to go and perfected my own smokey look to my liking.

    Good luck!

i think... when in doubt... go natural.

What nature gave you is the best look for you as far as complementing your skin tones and making you look your best- so dye your hair back to it's natural color (looks like a medium warm brown in the picture). Because you permed your hair, there's really nothing you can do but wait for it to grow out. Have you tried jumbo hot rollers? They will add volume to the roots but stretch the curly bit out so it blends more with the new growth. Makeup.. again I say go natural (except for work).. bare minerals is really awesome foundation (get the starter kit) and they have an eyeshadow palette with really pretty jewel tones.

Check out this website for hair tips:
    http://www.longhaircommunity.com/index.php
It has a lot of info about getting your hair into healthy condition and growing it long and strong (if that's what you decide). Have you tried vinegar rinses?

What does a vinegar rinse do?

Here's a link for vinegar rinses (I use both apple cider & the regular cheapie white kind, about 2-3 tablespoons per tall drinking glass, about 3x's a week Some hair reacts great to really strong rinses, while some work better with very, very, weak. You'll have to experiment to find what works for you). Vinegar rinses make my hair Pantene commercial shiny!!!:

OK, so my next purchase is going to be hot rollers. I used to have the jumbo ones and liked them. What brand is good, or what am I looking for?

These are the rollers I use:

You just heat them up, roll them on your hair starting at the front and rolling the curl back and inwards, leave them on for 15 minutes-- hairspray them, take them out without messing with the curl.. spray again.. shake your hair around all sexy-like.. and done!

Make sure they're no smaller than 2inches or else you'll get spiral-like curls

Those look awesome! I had some Revlon jumbo rollers, but they were only 5 to a set. It would take me 3 times to do my whole head.

Honestly, I think that may be just what I need. Then I can have a cute easy-care style for my real life, and a nice sleeker option for work.

    Thanks!
