    Default Old-School computer games

Back in the day, before my family and most families we were acquainted with had personal computers, my dad used a p.c. at work on the air force base. My mom would take me to visit him at work all the time, and he'd keep me entertained with computer games.

My favorite was a game where lines of things would rush past the screen in lines that the player would try to shoot. There was also a western type game where players would shoot bad guys popping up from behind western style buildings. You had to be careful not to shoot the good guys and ladies that would pop up.

Anyone know anywhere online to find these games? I realize that I'm being vague but I don't know much more about these games than my nostalgic memories.

    Anyone know?

You should find a lot of older computer games if you google for abandonware.

I know the game you mean. It's called "Shooting Gallery". It was on the first computer my family bought back in 1992. Do a search through Google and you will certainly find it online.

Does anyone here remember playing the original Wolfenstein 3D?

if we're gonna talk about older computer games, then let's not forget the old Text-based solve-the-puzzle games...

Farmer's Daughter, and there was another one that circulated amongst programmers and schools...then this later progressed to text based games that involved graphics and multiple choices - like DragonWorld

I liked the original Dragon Warrior so much I wrote my own sequel in BASIC on my Apple II plus. Then a real sequel came out. Their's was better than mine.

A true classic has not yet been mentioned: Moon Patrol

Leisure Suit Larry! So inappropriate for a private school virgin, I think my step dad must have not realsied we knew how to use the computer as well... ahh that was a GREAT game. Lol, I played the new version a few months ago, it has lost some of its charm since I was 13 or whatever!

I remember playing Wolfenstein when I was younger, did anyone play the sequel, Return to Castle Wolfenstein?

My ex boyfriend had Lesuire Suit Larry on his computer and then we played it on his Xbox, it was pretty funny to see what kinda adventures little man would get into.

Gabriel Night, a lot of old Sierra games.

The text game of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Which is really weird when you have never read the book and your only about 7....

I'm all for Commander Keen and Duke Nukem.

Descent was also another one of my absolute all time favorites. As was Solar Winds.

Remember Rise of the Red Dragon? Very similar to this game, only it had a portion that was side scrolling for like 1 level which equated to 15 minutes MAYBE.

I remember the desert in KQ5. The developers just looped it, so you could figure out where you needed to go just by looking for the different layouts. And you could see the desert castle in the distance. Very awesome.

Phantasmagoria came out right around KQ6 which touted live action sequences including a Ghost-Rape scene if you picked the Female.
    Very hot.

I liked captain comic as well. But Commander Keen 2 3 and 4 just ruled. Duke Nukem 2 was pretty decent as well. Then... there was the NUDE PACK for Jill of the Jungle.

In the realm of really old games, there's a certain point where they just become enjoyable. For me, it was Tradewars and Legend of the Red Dragon. But for locally installable games, I REALLY liked Alone in the Dark.
