Default Ever been accused of dirty dancing?

I'm just wondering because this happened to me about a month ago, and it was pretty upsetting. Only now has everyone finally come to a general consensus that I am not dirty dancing (thanks to replacing the private dance curtain with see through fabric- which pissed me off at first, until I realized it was the best possible way of proving them wrong). Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, and how you ultimately dealt with it.

Haters! Just keep doing what you're doing. People talk shit constantly, it always blows over.

If they're talking about you, maybe they're trying to draw attention away from themselves. As long as you're not doing that, no worries, anyone could walk up on you at any time and see exactly what you told them they'd see. Forget about it!

Sometimes. It gives them a way to not feel bad about making less money than you. I just ignore it.

Yeah, I guess there's nothing more you can do. Maybe it's just something that's bound to happen occasionally when you start doing well. I was pretty suprised and hurt at the time. But I guess you have to develop a thick skin in this business.

that was one of the things that drove me out of dancing in clubs. white chicks being so offended that i somehow got tipped onstage and made money without extras, plus both white and black chicks being amazed that it was possible for lowly little me to be able to do it just kind of left me burnt.

sure, i had plenty of nights ignoring the girls and making my money, but i also remember tipping management to keep them off my back at the best money club i worked at. and i remember at another club management pulling me every few months to 'just inquire on the matter' even though i brought in much of their credit card money. never penalised me for people's accusations, but being called in was stressful enough.

but then i worked in small/med clubs, where that kind of thing will burn you out fast since you see the same girls over and over weekly/monthly.

i don't know how it is for white dancers who bank without extras and get accused, but i know for me it was especially hard, because it came with an implication that i was simply not supposed to HAVE money UNLESS it came via extras.

i quit dancing in clubs eventually, but when i was actively dancing, i took a lot of breaks and focused on earning enough in half the month or less that i could cover expenses and save a lot so i wouldn't have to see those women too often if it came to that.

I've been accused of it half a dozen times and I'm probably the cleanest dancer at my club. Girls just can get hateful when they're jealous. It makes me feel like crap though. I'll be giving a guy a bunch of dances (portland air style) and the girl next to me will be grinding a guy all to hell with his hands on her boobs and I'll get some crazy cocktail waitress talking to a manager about how I'm getting too close or something. And cocktail waitresses???!!!! I understand from dancers, but why the waitresses??

    Mia,

That sucks. I'm sorry that happened to you. Yeah, it sucks when everyone's convinced you're a whore. That's what pissed me off about the curtain- Wow, even management is buying into the rumors to the point where they felt had to go out and make a brand new fabric selection over ME. And yes, I'm pretty sure that's what it was about. Management had questioned me about it before. I knew I wasn't supposed to close the curtain, but I just had to one night when these jackasse were standing right in front of it, watching my dance, making nasty comments and management would not intervene, even though they'd been doing it all night and I'd been assured they would "keep an eye out" to make sure they didn't scare off any more of my customers. And yeah, I got bitched at pretty bad about it, and low and behold- see through curtain the very next day.

But it's worked out well, because now there need be NO MORE speculation. If anyone has doubts, they're welcome to see for themselves and eat their words.

But yeah, It sounds like things were even worse for you, and very unfair. Sorry you had to go through that so many times.

That's pretty funny considering that how dirty I was. I only got accused once, by management, after I was caught. Ya never know!

I actually got fired from a club for "fingering myself". Now keep in mind that I have never even touched that part of my body while dancing, let alone "fingered myself". Apparently some girl started a rumor and the management belived it...

It's crazy what people believe when they have someone who is "credible". Who knows why!! But "fingereing" yourself? Geez, at the club here, you can touch yourself all you want, on stage, in front of custies at table dances, seen it lots. But it's a low club, and I guess you can just get away with it here. That really sucks for you all though, people can be asses when they're threatened.

Yeah they were allowed to touch themselves there too. But I was still brand new and it made me uncomfy.

Funny part is, I went and got a job at another club owned by the corporation about 1/2 a mile away like three days later. So I figure they couldn't have been that serious...

I was never accused of being dirty, but I do remember a girl being fired from our club for "fingering herself" and I HIGHLY doubt she actually diid. It's fucked up when they fire someone over something doubtful, and let girls that they know factually are pulling extras stay. What's the point?

Never to my face. I've been accusing of making customers fall in love with me and that's how I make my money (yea, I don't get that one either). I just say, "Gee, I must be important for everyone to be so concerned with me."

It's ALWAYS jealous girls who say this. Unless they've actually seen you do something (which is rarely the case in these situations), they're just being bitches and trying to make themselves feel better for not making as much money.

There was a rumor going around this peepshow I work at sometimes that a girl would fist herself in the ass. I've never worked with this girl and apparently she made good money... but I found it VERY hard to believe that she fisted herself in the ass. The other girls would get all excited when they talked about it (it's actually kind of funny, I guess). It was totally stupid because it was not only inplausible, but they hadn't gotten a show from her so they had no first-hand knowledge.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Hah! I was accused of extras my very first night by some random chick when we were tipping out the manager. He told her to calm down, and I just ignored the comment. She had no idea who I am or what I'm all about... it was extremely rude.

This is true, b/c when I do poorly and I tell my husband but so and so made this much! He always says " you know what they did for it too", lol, I'm not sure, and I would never accuse anyone of such things unless i saw it with my own eyes, but yeah when he says that I feel better.

Wooo this is a topic I'm just dying to speak out about. Recently in Ottawa they went with the no contact bylaw (then they paid off the goverment not to bother us for a year) and the three girls that bitched at everyone for still doing contact (let me add that their sisters) are the ones that are doing the "dirty dancing". Now, I'm not just a stripper talking shit like most do, I actually got to see it right in my face. No dicksucking or fucking or anything, but picture this, you're walking out halfway through the song, the dude's sitting, legs open, and all I see is the girl stroking the dude's cock with her knee!!! Not just a little touch when you're dancing but literally standing there, moving her knee up and down, up and down just like that lol.. Now this is the same girl who's customer told me three weeks prior, and I quote, "Well, SoandSo lets me touch her pussy." Hahahh... I never said anything to the girl about the knee-fuck, but I told her about the customer, ever since then she's been eager to explain as to why she makes money. Like the other night, her and I made most the money, and even though it wasn't that much, she wanted to tell me four times that she has regulars. Regulars, eh? Did you hear me? Lollol... Getting back to the point (sorry) the ones that steer it, do it. No doubt about it. That shit goes on in the back all the time. I used to assume girls didn't do it, just cause you don't see it. It's really that their fully attentive when the song changes to see people walk in and out.

It's pretty much the same for me at my club. I am one of the top 3 earners at my club (one girl is absolutely gorgeous, the other must be a selling genius, and then there's me). I have studied stripperweb, know how to talk to people, always come to work on time, have developed regulars, etc, but the other girls don't see any of this, they just don't understand why/how a black girl could make more money than they do. I am probably one of the cleanest dancers in the club and I don't step on anyone's toes but I am still one of the most loathed dancers in the club. On many occassions I walk out with more money than anyone else (I never talk about how much money I made but when I am in the back all the time it's obvious) you could just the dressing room tension with a knife.
