So, I got to work yesterday and I threw up. Really, I wasn't sick. I think it was something I ate or something because I otherwise felt fine. I couldn't keep down water, even. I told the DJ that I thought I should go home because I was throwing up (maybe once on the hour). He said that the money was good so I should stay. Also, it was at the time that traffic started picking up and I didn't want to be stuck in my car in traffic with the need to vomit. So, I talked to the manager and he took me off rotation since working my stomach muscles on stage was making me throw up. Shift change came and the new DJ came in. I asked the old DJ if he'd told the new DJ what was up. He said he didn't. There were very few customers and a ton of girls and I had a customer come in for a VIP room with me. Normally, the girls have the choice to be taken off rotation or stay on when they do a VIP. Since I was already off and not feeling well and they certainly weren't short of girls, I went up to VIP. Two hours later, I was in the middle of dancing for this customer when the DJ calls me to standby to go onstage (the VIP room at this club is open-faced and everyone could see that I was in there and what I was doing). I have to stop my dancesand go ask him what happened. The DJ asked me if the customer had RENTED me or had just bought a bottle. I was unaware of the difference (I've been working at this club for two years) so I said, "Um... he bought a bottle? I don't know." So, the DJ said he'd put me up once and then take me off rotation. I was like, "Okay".
So, he says I'm up right after the girl currently gets offstage. So, I talk to the guy in VIP, he says, okay, and I'm backstage waiting to be called on. The DJ is playing some weird Beatles song (NOT my music) and talking about drink specials or something. So, I'm waiting to be called on... and he's not talking but still playing the weird music. (I figured he was stoned again) Then, he calls some other girl on stage! So, I walk back on the floor, heading to the DJ booth, and this bouncer stops me, all pissed, asking where I was because the DJ had been calling me forever. I was just shocked. I mean, I was completely sober so I KNEW what had just happened. I was just like, "No, I was waiting for him to play my music and call me up". At this point, I'm DEFINATELY feeling picked on. So, I just go up and continue doing VIP dances. An hour later, floorman dude comes back up and says the doorguy wants to talk to me. So, doorguy explains to me (rudely!) that customers can't just buy a bottle to get into VIP with a girl, they have to rent them and it's $150 per half hour. I was like, "This is the first I've heard of that!" Doorguy says that the customer knew that rule.
Okay, first of all, I'm pretty damn sure that I wouldn't see any of that $150. Second, it already costs $400 for a bottle. Third, they should have told the CUSTOMER that, not pulled me on stage and ran me around like that.
So, they put me back on rotation. I'm after a particular girl. So, it's her last song and I excuse myself to get ready and get backstage. After this girl gets off... He calls a DIFFERENT girl onstage! I was so pissed! I stormed outta the dressing room and then the DJ announces that I would be next... and I finally was.
ARGH! I've done plenty of VIP's in this club where they took me off rotation and this has never happened! The customer said that the club doesn't like him... and I'm almost tempted to believe him because of the way they were acting! I made great money but I only tipped each of those guys $5.
