Default Night of the Walking Dead Stripper

I'm fairly new at dancing, so I'm not trying to be a "know it all" but I'm sure most of you that have been dancing for a while would agree with me on this.
I went to a club last night with my boyfriend, we've been there a few times, lots of cute dancers. There are 2 girls there that are decent looking, and really good dancers...but they're like zombie strippers! And as sexy as you can move your body, when you don't even make a facial expression once during the 3 songs your up...it just loses something...alot actually. I just wanted to grab em and go "youre beautiful, youre sexy...but please just smile!" And I know it wasn't like a "bad night" or something...because I've been there before and the same girls are like that. One of them was in the amateur contest when I had gone and I remember saying "wow she's a really good dancer...but she doesnt smile." And I don't mean have a shit eating grin the whole time...but don't look like a robot programmed to move sexily and take off your clothes. Ugh.
    It just frustrated me.

HA! I was just talking about this with a girl I work with! "The Grocery Store Stare".

We were watching this girl dance, and seriously, she had that same expression, like she was thinking about her grocery list or the look you see on the faces of people zoning out in the store.

The guy she was daning for was literally looking around her ass to check out other girls. I never understood that.
I can understand it if the guy you're dancing for is a total creep and you just want to end the dance, with no hope of a repeat, but I've seen it on stage too! If you hate it that much, maybe find a job that doesn't put you into a catatonic state?

Oh that and one of the zombie girls would do this weird ass slap thing where she'd slap it really hard, then go right back for like three more slaps right in a row...all with no expression. That was a little weird.

Oh yes. This thread makes me think of the private dances I have gotten where the dancer was so disinterested that I also developed that feeling. So the second half of the dance was spent looking around the VIP room trying to determine which other girl(s) were worthy of my hard-earned money.

Yeah, I only make the "bored" expression when I'm facing away from the guy.

I totally know what you mean. Nowhere is the ass slap odder-looking than when you do it with a totally bored, robotic, smacking-your-gum and watching-the-clock expression. I've seen it done while the dancer all but yawned and rolled her eyes with boredom.

(Actually, that's a perfect example of how the ass slap DOESN'T work. I know some people like it and some people don't, but if you choose to do it, do it with some sass and attitude!)

i think that sometimes girls get nervous when they go onstage, and its kinda hard to smile when your a little scared up there.... i know it happens to me sometimes, and i forget to smile.

Priceless! So true, soo funny, AndyGirl.
Smiling, definately adds something good to a stage performance..Even if you dont make much money on the stage, theres could always be that one guy who actually was attracted to your smile and will be interested in dances. Its a natural reaction that when one person smiles, it makes the other person want to smile as well. I know going on the stage for the umpteenth time is like the same old grind...But its up to the dancer to create the atmosphere. What helps me is to block out everything else and just get into the music. Then, I have a great time!

(Been dancing 5yrs and Ive seen the grocery list stare too, it makes me cringe!)

Hehe, me too. Sometimes the guy doesn't want to make eye contact and stares at my boobs the whole time... but I always try to make eye contact (not staring, just making sure I make a connection) and smile every once in awhile to let him know that I'm there and enjoying it (or at least making him THINK that). I've also found that spending time while onstage to focus on one guy at a time, smile, do a little turn or something just for him... dramatically increases my chances of getting a dance from him later.

I've had dances from girls who were there mentally, made eye contact, and smiled... and those who were obviously just going through the motions and were somewhere else in their head. The difference in the dances were like night and day, regardless of what the girl looked like.

I am gonna have to disagree alittle bit on this one...having a bored stare is one thing, but I dont want to see some girl with a shit eating grin dancing around on stage. I think it looks so fucking fake, like the Miss America Pageant or something. A sly, sultry grin is good...an occassional smile but not non-stop teeth. Reminds of a mentally retarded person or something...not that there is anything wrong with mentally retarded people but I dont wanna watch it on stage.

    hhahaa.

    tottaly true..

i see alot of dancers at my job....jus have a blank stare on their face..and eyes that say they are tinking about what they need at the grocery store....as they wiggle their ass in front of some guys face. it looks weird.

i mean ya i admitt, on real bad nights ill jus half ass my dances.

but most of the time....you know, i try to play the part....be "into" the dance..and "into" them....and casual sensual eye contact...and it shows..alot of guys have complimented me saying, "wow you look like you really like your job! i like that!" "wow you really into this, you dance so sensual!"

but yeah i agree with Echomadison...no miss america smile....but you know, sexy eyes like your getting fucked and a sexy smirk once in a while is nice

If I felt like anyone was watching I would smile.

Lately I've been asking to be kept off stage entirely, it's a complete waste of time and energy in my club.

I smile if anyone makes eye contact with me, or sometimes I think nasty things about the other girls that work with me, and then I laugh to myself and make evil grins.

I only smile really big when I'm laughing. I have a regular lopsided grin that apparently just isn't good enough for many customers and it drives me insane to be asked to smile (more).
I've used the "mentally retarded" bit on lots of em. Mainly it's if I'm sitting at the bar on a slow night or I'm on my way to the dressing room/bathroom with determination and a guy interrupts me and tells me to smile. Sometimes I blow up and tell them about my retarded uncle who goes around cheesing 24/7, and then ask them if I look retarded! I mean no disrespect, my mother's twin is schizophrenic and incredibly slow.
Someone stopped me on the way to the bathroom hollering at me to smile, so I stopped and said, "I'm on my way to insert another tampon, would you be smiling?!?" Obviously, I don't work at the nicest of clubs and this is fast becoming a pet peeve of mine.

I notice a sharp, very marked decline in my income when I'm -not- grinning like a loon. It's the one thing I've noticed more than anything else, outfits, hair, anything, that makes that big of a difference.

But I do know a few girls that bank looking sorta pissed...

i've found that anytime i decide to stand around, i simply must have a small smile or a smirk on my face. otherwise, i WILL be approached and admonished by a custie for looking "upset" or "bored". i have used this to turn around and sell a dance however, to prove that i am indeed, not upset.

regardless, i just try to keep an appropriately charming facial expression on the entire time i'm at the club (i also like to smile disarmingly at angry dancer glares). it sells me over other girls at least once a night. i get lots of praise for it, and it sometimes get me dances where they just want me to sit in their lap and talk so they can see my face.

i was hoping this thread would be about ACTUAL zombie strippers tho. i would definitely attend a theme night where all the girls were sexy shambling undead.

^^ DJ, cue up "Thriller"! And "Living Dead Girl"! And the damned Cranberries' "Zo-om-beh-eh-eh" And . . . well, that's it, I guess. But what the hell, loop 'em alternately and we'll all be craving succulent brains, brains, BRAAINNNS by the end of the night!

thats actually exactly what I said, I don't expect a shit eating grin te whole time, and I def. don't smile like a cheerleader the whole time I dance...but ya know, it's ok to smile once and a while...and when a girl looks like shes off in another world...it just kinda sucks.

Yeah I totally feel you on this one...people say this to me all the damn time and its the most annoying thing! Ok not THE most annoying thing but pretty effin' close, it bothers me alot. When I am sitting with a customer/s, of course I smile, I laugh at their dumb jokes or whatever is necessary. But when it isnt necessary to smile, I dont...if someone is telling me a story or something I am not going to sit there smiling like a effin' git! And its even more annoying when you are talking with a guy and one his friends leans over and says "you should smile" or some shit like that! As if he has a clue what we are discussing! What if we are talking about how said customers aunt just died...they have no clue

I never think about my expression when I go on stage. Every time I read a thread like this I wonder if I'm the girl with the zombie expression on my face. Then again the other dancers have on occasion made a big fuss over how marvellous my stage expression is with this "fuck you I'm beautiful and the queen of the fucking world" attitude. I had no idea I looked like that until another girl mentioned it to me but then again considering that's exactly what I'm thinking when I walk up on the stage it's only natural my face should reflect that!

I can see why some dancers get like that. Sometimes at work I just function on autopilot. But if a customer tips well, I get extra enthusiastic about the whole thing.

What I don't like is when the girls stare in the mirrors checking themselves out the whole time they're dancing. It's like, "Enough already!! Yes you still have your clothes on, and yes! Now you're taking them off!!" I mean, an occasional glance is fine, but I mean, come on, rehearse before the customers get in, or practice at home in front of your mirror to see what you look like. I get my bf to take pictures of me when I'm practicing and then I can critique myself to do better. So that way when I'm ready to go on stage, I'll know what I look like.

Lol, on one of our stages everyone looks in the mirror because we have one on two sides. Some do it very slyly and others do it like they are in love with their own image. Not coincidently, these are the same girls who talk to you through the mirror in the dressing room rather than turning to look at you to look you in the eye. I have always found that odd. Hairdressers do it too, but at least that's understandable.

While we're on pet peeves, one of mine is girls who walk around the bar topless. I have to have at least five bucks on stage before I'll even begin to strip, and these girls are walking around with their tits on display. Hello??? If you walk around naked what incentive is there for men to tip you? You are the proverbial cow, giving the milk for free.

My technique is to make them want it, and then make them pay for it. And if anyone complains I smile and say, "You have to pay if you want to play," but I rarely even have to say that. IMO, the type of girl who walks around topless for free comes off as either desperate or too lazy to throw together a costume. Either way, it's a very bad way to do business.

Bounce86---lol! I really don't do the bored face very often, because I think it begets bad luck, but every once in a while when I've got my back to a guy and a friend across from me is doing the same, we exchange that knowing glance. You have to keep your sense of humor with some of these weirdos we dance for. The SC is a bizarre place, that's for sure.
