Thumbs down What is the outcome of a Stolen Car?

So for the past week, i let my best friend hold my car because her roomates messed up her vehicle while changing the battery, Positive with the Negative ...Negative with the positive. So her car won't start at all.

Well, me being the nice person that i am, i told her to use my car since she's been having a hard time trying to make it to and from work. And to use it to go pay bills. But i told her "Please do not go out and about driving my car drunk." because she loves to go out for a drink after work ALOT!!!

Thursday was her day off. She was at the bar . She was suppose to use my car for business purpose only you know. So, she calls me 3:30am and tells me she can't find the keys. None of the bartenders or servers recieved any keys that turned up missing. But my car is still in the parking lot though. She finally makes it home by 4am and the next day....that Friday.....she found a ride to get to my house to get in extra key but before she made it to my house, she drove by the bar and the car was GONE..!

So i ask..., What is the outcome for a stolen Vehicle to come back in pieces, or found safely, or found quickly....?

Well...since you don't know what they did to the car while it was gone, even if it's found and looks fine, I wouldn't trust it. Who knows what they messed with.
Fine the police report, and an insurance claim.

My old boyfriend car was stolen, and found a week later, completly gutted. They even took his car seat for his baby. Stupid car theifs forgot their ID in the car tho...but the police did nothign about it. My boyfriend got the insurance money tho, and bought a ner car.

Perhaps the bar had it towed? If the Friday day shift didn't know what was up with the car they may have just called a tow company and had it removed.

Thats what I was thinking. Or she gave the keys to someone, knowing she was drinking(since she couldnt find them) and just doesnt remember doing it. Or doesnt want to tell you cause you'd be angry...kind of a coincidence that the car gets stolen RIGHT after she loses the keys....

If it WAS stolen, depends on damage, etc.....if its minial, the insurance and/or finance company may just pay for damages to have it fixed.

if there is major damage, then, the insurance would "take care of it", i sue ""s because i don't know your insurance, or insurance laws where you live....each state is different.

Yeah. Kind of what i was thinking. I feel there is more to the story from what she told me. It's not really adding up for some reason. I know there has to be more to it. I just would like for her to be real. But she's offering to take full responsibility and pay my car payments. But, still....I have no car now.

on the radio, they have been advertising something about car thefts that i thought was interesting. it says that insurance will NOT pay anything if your keys are found with the stolen vehicle. something about assisting vehicle theft.

I've filed a report about it to the police. Well, at least she did. I was with her when we went up there and she did all the talking since it was her mistake. But .... She has told me that when she left the table she had the keys and her drink there. when she walked outside and came back in.., her drink and the keys where gone!!

But i think i'm going to go ahead and ask her if she let anyone hold them or tell me what really went on. She claims that's all she remembers.

Blondi is right, something here ain't jiving.....

I have the feeling she did something to the vehicle, wrecked it, minor accident, etc, and doesn't have insurance or a way to pay for it......

Also if she was working at the time, was there anyone where she works that could've seen your car, and realize she was not in it?

I'd ask questions around her work....

Yaaaaayy I'm so happy . They found my car today as we speak. It was found in the parking lot of Cracker Barrel. It's still in pieces but..., they said they think it was used in a crime that recently happened.....Is there a way you can change locks on a car....? I'm nervous to even just drive it again now....

The first new car I ever bought was stolen when I lived in Houston. Bastards. Cops found it a week later on the side of a dirt road, gutted and beat to shit. Took a month to fix it up. I swear, to this day if I found out who the scumbags were that stole, I'd likely beat them to death.

I lived in an apartment complex at the time, and 5 other cars were stolen as well that same night from the parking lot. Obviously pros or a gang or something.

My car was stolen from outside my gf's place this winter.

Cops found it 2 weeks later - nothing was missing, including my $6000 mandolin... and my pot!

Well, I thought G Real was right and it was a mistake for you to let your roommate borrow your car... but it really WAS stolen, and I'm glad you got your car back. Good for you.
