    Default curious (breathalyzer)

does your club "make you blow" (no jokes plz) before you leave at the end of your shift?

our club has a mandatory breathalyzer policy and it's the only one i've worked at that does. i was curious to see if others do as well. i don't mind it, since i VERY rarely get drunk at work anyway.

No, because I work in nude clubs for now. I've never worked at a club where they had me do that.

Out of the 7 clubs I've danced at, none have ever done it.

well, the way ours works is....

you turn in your keys when you get there. when you're ready to leave, you have to "blow" to get your keys back. they'll only give them to you if you blow under the legal limit. if not, you have to stay and wait till you blow under. unless another girl is willing to give you a ride home or you can have a friend come get you. in which case you leave your car and come back and get it later.

Why don't they hold the customers' keys and make them blow before they leave as well? What's the difference? Bad system, could have bad legal ramifications if a girl got into accident driving after safely blowing @ club and whose blood alcohol content is over legal limit at time of accident. Food for thought..........

the reason they do it is so that they -don't- get in trouble for girls leaving drunk. if she blows under the limit at the club she's not going to blow over the limit down the road.

oh and, you -can't- take keys from customers, but they -do- offer cab rides to drunk costumers and they -do- cut people off.

The breathalyzers at clubs are not calibrated correctly. And depending on when her last drink was she absolutely could blow over limit down the road.

I don't have a current home club but no club I've ever worked did that. I'd never heard of it before this thread.

Here in Australia in the multitude of clubs I have worked within it was never compulsory. All the clubs are licensed and nude as well... and the legal drinking age is 18... yet no... they just "release" (as such) the girl(s) who are too intoxicated (or well sloppy drunk) from further working. They don't get them to blow or anything.

No, but one of the managers mentioned to me the other night that he ought to bring his from home. I didn't even know you could just buy them, but whatev..
Everyone gets fined if they miss stage, or fall, or start fights, or whatever. As long as the cabs keep coming and we keep the drunk girls from driving, let them drink. I'm through with dressing room lectures, they're always forgotten anyways.

well, i learned from my recent dui that they aren't really allowed to be doing that. unless they are certified to administer breathalyzers, the results could be .01 or .2 and *technically* it doesn't matter.

How long has your club been doing this? Did it begin because of a particular incident?

My club doesn't do anything like that, but they supposedly cut girls off after six drinks. I've had more than six drinks in a shift before though, and I know that the regular drinkers do it all the time.

the've been doing it for years. as far as i know they are certified to and are -required- to via their insurance (i'm not 100% on the details).

they even have a mandatory club meeting every 6 months for all employees and dancers. a police officer comes and talks about DUIs and legal dances and whatnots. they also go over the ID checking and such for the door people and bartenders.

Yeah, as with anything at our club, this rule is enforced whimsically. I did witness a 6 month VISIBLY pregnant dancer get cut off after her 6th shot of Patron recently.

I only see the point if they are breath testing people who are intending to drive otherwise I see it as an invasion of civil liberty.

Some of the most effortlessly beautiful, kind, intelligent, successful, motivated, driven and ridiculously hilarious women that I have ever met have been dancers. I've met the best friends that I've ever had in this industry.

I did not vote, because the club I worked at, it was optional unless you were wasted. I would volunteer if I still had a buzz at the end of the shift, just to make sure. If a girl was obviously drunk, they made her blow, and would make her sit and hang out while the waitresses cleaned, etc. Often another girl would take that one home.

I worked at Penny's sister club in Florida, and my club went on a similar rant about how the club was liable if they let us drive home drunk, etc. Same liability with customers, but I think it would only get serious if the custie was later convicted of DUI manslaughter or something. Then they'd actually be interested in where the guy was last drinking and why they let him leave completely intoxicated. It all has to do with getting sued.

I've never personally encountered it, but Katherine Frank mentions it in her book. I kinda think it's a spiffy idea, but since I don't drink at work it's easy for me to be self-righteous about other girls getting drunk at their place of employment.

My initial reaction is holy crap they're overstepping boundries...then again, the hassle of having to blow, calling for a ride or what not, would be a hell of a lot better than dealing with a DUI. Sure the clubs doing it to try and cover they're own ass, but it's also helping girls that may have otherwise ended up in deep shit. Never heard of this before..but all in all, you have to be responsible when you drink alcohol..this way, the club is forcing you to do so.

yeah, I hear Stroker's does it.

I've never worked in a club that did/does it though.
