Default How long will the cramps last?

I have searched and searched for this answer, and I can't find it anywhere.

How long will the cramps last from this miscarriage? It's been 4 days, and they still hurt really bad. Nothing helps make them go away. Ibuprofin, acetominophen, they don't help.
I started taking 1 500mg. Tylonal, 3-4 200mg. Ibuprofin toogether, and that helps take the edge off, but not make them go away.

I see the doctor tomorrow, and I'm gonna ask her, and I'm gonna ask for some pain pills, but I really just want this to stop. It's like the constant reminder.

So does anyone know how long the cramps will last?

How long will the bleeding last? It got lighter the day before yesterday, then yesterday got heavy again. That's normal? I thought when it was getting lighter that meant it was comming to an end, but then it got heavy again.

I just don't know what to expect.

I had cramps for a few weeks after both of mine, and when the bleeding finally stopped, it all went back to normal... It took a few months for my cycles to get back on track and to regulate again

hugs and kisses for you xxx I know exactly how you feel right now.

Best thing to do is to have a warm bath, then jump into bed and read a book or watch tv

it is different for all people, I had serious hardcore I want to curl in a ball and die cramps for 7 - 10 days which included huge amounts of blood clots coming out, I went through a pad an hour and the longest I went with out a change was 3 hours... it died off from there and I got pains a little more. My next period was hell also, but I suffer from PCOS so I had other things to deal with to

If you do not have any history of bad periods etc, give it a few days - up to 7, if nothing by then, I would be going to ER.

Best to see a dr aswell, they can prescribe medication, remember your hormones and emotions are all over the place, so dont be doing any strenuous work.

After you M/C you are said to be more fertile, esp after a D & C. It shouldn't be long until your back on the TTC boat again and getting your big fat positive.

Stay strong, rest lots, drink plenty of water and have a nice long bath.

Remember everyone has different MC symptoms, so what happens to me wont always happen to everyone else

I have a history of very bad periods, very heavy, long with terrible cramps. but the period cramps usually only last 1 day, and then they are over. But my terrible period cramps are nothign compared to the way this feels.

Have your tried heating pads? Therma care really helped with mine and long VERY hot baths kind of eased out those straining muscles.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Did you get a D&C? . After mine I had cramps for 2- 3 weeks, baaad ones. I could do nothing to stop the pain and it came like contractions still for weeks.

No D&C, I just spoke to the dr. today and she said my hormones levels have gone down so rapidly she believes that my body is handling everythign naturally, and I won't need the d&c. She recommended BC pills to help with the cramps, bleeding, and of coruse, the fact that your very fertile after a mc, and they recommend not getting pregnant for 3 months after to let your body time to heal.

I react badly to BC pills, unfortunatly, but I think I'm gonna go pick up the scrpt for them tomorrow, and just take them short term to help get things under control a bit.

^^ That might be a good idea. I don't like BC pills either, but if you take it jsut for a lil bit to get your body feeling better, it could be worth it.

I'm glad to see you posting so much Kaylin, the subject matter sucks, but I was really worried about you (even though I don't know you, I was) and I was hoping you wouldn't vanish.

The worst was over in 4-5 days, probably because I had them give me a prescription that helped things along (they said it was either that or a D&C). However with my last some tissue stuck in the opening of my cervix and had to be removed by my gyno. After that I felt much better.

I'm not doing to bad, really. (emotionally)
I'm tearing up every day, but only for a few minutes if something triggers me. Stupid shit like a diaper comercial or something. But I get sad for a few minutes, and get over it. I haven't been out of the house yet tho, and I know in public, seeing babies and pregnant women is realy gonna bother me.

I don't want to bring it into another thread, since I already have one going, but it's just one day at a time. I'll start beign able to heal much easier when it's not a constant reminder with the cramping and bleeding.

my friend said a few days of brutal bleeding... and about 7 days of worst cramps ever.

i believe she also went and had a D&C after i think 4 days because the bleeding wasn't getting lighter.

I've miscarried twice. The first wasn't too bad, maybe a week or two of moderate cramping, the 2nd was worse with almost 4 weeks of heavy cramping. No D&C with either.

I would assume it differs radically from person to person etc.
