Default Shiny skin/ how to make it stop

It doesn't happen often but every once in a while after applying make up my face looks all shiny and almost oily. It looks like I have either danced a VERY long set or have run around in circles for a while. Having done neither, anyone know how to make my skin look more dry? Does any one have this problem?
I have tried to wash my face with soap to dry it out before applying make up, but this just dries out my skin so I am not sure if I need a different bronzer or a new type of powder make up.
I hate it when the lights in the club will glint of my skin and have my face almost mirror them.
Please don't lick me, it tickles..

Maybe try a toner? I know this helps me....also ProActive sells this cream that you apply on your skin before you apply make up and it makes your skin very matte...no shine.

I suffer from the same problem...it sucks.

I have that problem and use a matte powder or the little blotting sheets you can buy to absorb the oil.

Yeah, I meant touch your face up with matte powder to absorb the oil after applying the make-up. I know it's just fixing the symptom instead of the problem but that's what I do. Jessica's suggestion of a toner might help as well.

Oh, to answer your question about the blotting sheets, no, they are very light weight and thin, they'll just absorb the oil mostly and maybe a tad bit of make-up. What I'd do is use the blotting sheet first then use the matte powder.

thanks, it only seems to happen often when I am traveling, change of climate I would think. It's not too serious and seems to fade as the night wears on, but that last look in the mirror just irks me.
I'm betting the toner would def. help. Never really used one before, but I'll try it out.

I usually use a primer before putting any makeup on. The gel minimizes the pores and any fine lines and leaves a matte finish of your makeup. I also use model in a bottle, it's a finishing spray that sets your makeup including mascara and eyeshadow for over 8 hours. I get it on bebeautiful.com they have awesome stuff.

    Good Luck!

^^I was also going to suggest a primer. I use MUFE's and it keeps my face matte, my foundation/blush/bronzer perfect, and helps it last much longer. I've heard good things about the Model in a Bottle, but it's a bit on the expensive side. There are some stage makeup companies that make an excellent setting spray much cheaper.

Theatrical makeup is an excellent choice for strippers. It's made to last through sweating and dancing under hot stage lights! It will certainly last for stripping! I like Ben Nye and Kryolan so far, though I haven't used all that many of their products yet.

I will also put my vote in for a foundation primer. I use Photo Finish by Smashbox and it is pricey but SO effective. if I get a bit oily later i use the Lise Watier blotting sheets to touch up.
