Default Any girls here w/ naturally curly hair......

....that just goes bezerk in over-cast or humide weather??

I need some tips and suggestions on how to control my frizz in these conditions. Forget blowdrying and flatening, it will just bounce back. (No wonder I had a hard time getting boyfriends when I lived in San Francisco. My hair always looked like a brillo pad I'm so happy I live in LA now. At least my hair is usually happy)

It's down to my lower back at it's longest but shinks to below my shoulders in these conditions. I am bartending outdoors near the beach tonight. I did it last night and guess what? There was a frizz party on my head

Also, I will be in NY next month for a week. Humidity Central.

So,. my hair will shrink. This is understood. But is there anything, outside of wearing a hat, that can help the ugly frizzies??

The Frizz-Ease line of product is a beautiful thing. My hair isn't as curly as yours but it does frizz up like hell in the humidity, and I'm from Memphis! (Which is the real Humidity Central, it's much worse than New York.) I love the Secret Weapon Flawless Finishing Cream. Out of all the Frizz-Ease products, it's the best. Let your hair get mostly dry and then massage a big glop of Secret Weapon into the ends, and it makes your curls soft and shiny in about ten minutes. You have to let it "cure" for about ten minutes before your hair looks good, but it will!

i have big hair in summer.

i pretty much give up any straightening or drying during that time. don't know what lines you guys have there but these are my two faves:

    1. PPS "Be Straight" (though i use it to de-frizz my curls rather than straightening because it's better than their de-frizz product) http://www.myshopping.com.au/ZM--7405035_Hair_Care

    2. KMS "Flat Out"

Depending how thick your hair is, I recommend relaxing it. I did it last year and loved it but because my hair is a thin type of curls and waves, it was prone to drying and breaking faster. Now I'm depserately trying to grow it out because it's so dry and damaged. Look at the strength and thickness of your hair, if it's good to relax it. My niece has a thick, black, tight curl mane and relaxes it and she does just fine.

Thanks for the tips. I wore a hat tonight while tending bar @ the beach. It was quite foggy w/ lots of moisture in the air, so I just worked a cute military hat.

I won't get it relaxed because my curls are fine and I have colored hair, so I have enough chemicals going on.

I'll try some of those products suggested. Thanks:-)

Yes I do, and I blow dry it straight most of the time. However there is no point in doing that if it is humid out, because it won't hold no matter what you do. I would not reccomend the Frizz-Ease line of products because all though they do work, they leave a horrible build up on your hair. (my friend who does my hair says he can always tell when I client uses it because he'll be like slipping on their hair after its been cut and is on the ground)

I personally use and love Bumble and Bumble. Even though I have extremely thick hair, I use their thickening spray as a base because it really detangles and smooths the hair. After that I use Aveda humectant pomeade to give my curls a boost and TIGI shine spray to finish it out!

Not sure how thick or how curly your hair is but I straighten my hair during the summer. Since you don't want to straighten I put this stuff in it so it at least defines the curl without too much frizz freak out. I usually slick it back in a ponytail.

    Lots of leave in conditioner

I use Davines Shampoo and Conditioner called " love" seems to work the best.

then I follow up with catwalk leave in

Then I use serum from Biosilk

Then ( yah I know ) I actually use pantene Pro v ICE mousse.. I brush it all through ...half air dry then use a defuser to finish it up..

Then I'm off to straighten with a helen of Troy old skool hot as fuck flat iron.

Works like a charm and I have seriously curly/uneven wave hair.

My hair does the same thing and John Frieda Frizz Ease has helped alot. I also recommend buying a flat iron that goes up to 450 to 475 degrees like the ones in the salon to straighten your hair. Then make sure you seal it with a good conditioning spray afterwards and it will hold, believe me. I thought it couldn't be done until I did a Bronner Bros. hairshow and experienced it for myself. They sent me home with the products that they used on my hair and they work wonders. The line is called Nu Expressions:

I use the Dandruff & Itchy Scalp Shampoo (w/zinc) and after wringing my hair out with my hands I use three puffs of the Moisturizing Foam Wrapping lotion. I then section my hair into three sections and make one double strand twist out of each. Once it either air dries or I finish sitting under the dryer, I use my flat iron (at max heat 450) to straighten it one two inch section at a time. Once I'm finished, I use a few spritzes of the Diamond Hair Shine (glossifier) and finish up with a Silk Sheen Conditioning Spray. My hair can last for days after this! The only thing I may have to do is touch up my roots with the flat iron because they tend to get frizzy in the shower under a showercap. AND the best thing of all is, I can keep my hair natural and chemical free (no perms or relaxers)!

Mine is thick and naturally curly. I use Infusium Shampoo and Conditioner made specifically for curly hair and to kill the frizz. Follow that with Infusium leave in conditioner. Then a little Redken H20, helps the curls stay curls, kills the frizz and holds the style all at the same time.

I use Infusium 23 (frizzologie). It has silicone in it and helps the cuticle lay more.

Basically, I second everything Aine said.

I have a lot of hair, but it is soft and fine to the touch. I straighten for work sometimes and it usually stays. But extreme humidity just makes it grow big, wide and curly, w/ frizzies.

I have tried letting it dry with very little use of a diffuser. Before I would twist all the these sections and then seperate them when it dried. This works in dry weather but defeats my purpose in humidity.

I found that if I just leave it alone and not twist and twirl sections while wet, it dries in a nice wavy pattern w/ minmal frizz. I just have to keep my hands off my head

I do have a 400* flat iron. It works here if the weather is not humid but in extreme fog and overcast conditions, it just doens't work for me. I'll mos def try some of those products.

I just got Aveda Smooth Infusion shampoo and conditioner, its awesome!! I have really frizzy half wavy/curly but still kinda thin hair, this stuff makes it really silky and smooth. Two things I don't like, the smell, kinda smells like a tree would smell, not very girly. and the price is a little expensive, almost 65 for two small bottles.

This might be a 'duh' question, but do you brush it? My hair is on the curly side of wavy, and I recently figured out that it takes care if itself...if I airdry it with just a bit of serum and then finger comb, it's perfect. If I take a brush to it (ever), it goes berzerker.
