Cool, I changed over. It's easier on the eyes...
If everything you try is a sure thing, you aren't taking enough risks. If you never fail, you put a limit on the degree to which you can succeed. In short, the only way to win big is to risk losing

Go to the "tools" menu at the very top and select "options" There should be a spot that says "homepage" and you can make it whatever you want right there.

I just now found blackle. I am amused.

Marasmus says, "Oh no, that wasn't gas, it was merely a rectal chuckle."

Marek says, "A friend of mine got punched in the face by a dominatrix stripper about two weeks ago and I thought of you."

Yea. LCD screens have a backlight that always runs at full brightness while on (and hence full power). LCD's subtract light to generate colors other then white. Black is generated by subtracting all colors. The LCD crystals are like shutters and must close to block light. Most of them (if not all of them used for computers) are Active Matrix Technology, which means that power must be applied to the cells to "twist" them, or polarize them such that they block the backlight. That means if anything, they use a little more power to generate black then white.

OTOH CRTs may use more power to generate non-black. Of course a good way to save power is to switch from using a CRT to a LCD

All that said, my desktop background is black - I think it just looks cool, and I like the look of the blackle page.
