    Default The Simpsons Movie

So I caught this last night at the cinema...full house for a 9pm showing.

I'm not a Simpsons super-fan (I don't think I've watched a full episode in at least five years), but I thought this movie was HI-larious, and held up well as a feature (it's a shade under an hour and a half, so it's not too long). Also, with the PG rating they were able to go outside the constraints the TV series has with network standards and practices (though profanity-wise, there's only a G-damn [from an unlikely source] late in the movie).

    Anybody else catch this yet?

I saw it. I thought it was full of cute one-liners. Not an especially memorable film, but fun for a Friday night. I enjoyed it, and the theatre was full for us too. People even clapped at the end.

    eh it looks lame.

i beileve the simpsons "died" a few years ago.

they should of went out with a bang, but instead they continued to make crappy new epoisdes filled with humor that bashes itself over your head...instead of the more subtle, witty humor that was found in the older eposides.

homer, back then, used to have beilef systems and was "stupid" for a reason. now they just make homer do stupid shit for no reason? like hes completly lost it and its not even funny anymore. now he just acts like a retard n it makes no sense.

the movie looks just like a new, overly dramatic eposide.

i tihnk ill just stick to the simpsons seasons on DVD..when they were GREAT i fucking love the simpsons, im just so disapointed how they stopped writing great eposides and humor like they use to.

they should of got conan o brien to write the movie..the simpsons was better when he was writing for it anyways.

I just came back from seeing it today. I liked it a lot more than I thought I would. It's not overly long (only 86 minutes) and it was much better than the tv show. It was more akin to the tv show of the early 90s.

Saw it opening night (hooray again for EA hooking it up!) --

The good thing about the movie is... even for people who are just casual watchers of the series, you can pick that movie right up and not feel like you've missed out on a metric ton of inside jokes or anything (I caught an inside reference or two, but that was it).

86 minutes was perfect. Not too drawn out. It's better to leave an audience wanting a little more than to wear out a welcome.

    And Spider Pig ruled. =)

I'm not a huge Simpsons fan, I do enjoy it once and awhile, and I think the characters are great.

The movie was tight, never boring or tedious, funny straight through. The only slightly negative thing I could say is the jokes in the begining half were better.
    I hope life isn't a big joke, because I don't get it.

If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.

I'm a big Simpson's fan but I expected the movie to suck. The writing on the show has improved a bit over the past 6 months or so, but probably for 2 years before they were sucking. But the movie was great. Very inventive plot, lots of funny one-liners, a tear jerker, etc. Great movie. I saw it last night & laughed my ass off almost the whole time (and I didn't smoke any pot before).

Exactly. Wasn't a breakout. Southpark's first movie was a home run.
