Having a sucessful night dancing requires a lot of planning, before, during and after your shift.
Before your shift
1. Exercise.
First of all, exercising before you go to work will put you in a good mood. You feel feel sexy and feel as if you have already acomplished something positive. Second of all, exercising will temporarily make your muscles appear to be toned, and of course, doing it daily will make them more toned. Stretching before you work is also very important. Dancing is a very physical job, and thoes muscles need to be loose and stretched before you use them.
2a. Appearance.
Maintance - Take a look at yourself. Do your eyebrows need attention? How's your tan( if that's your look) Do you need another coat of fake tanner? Is your fake tan even and not splotchy?
Do you have visible roots? Are your teeth white? Check out your fingernails. Are they ragged? Paint chipping off? Don't forget the feet. They gotta be soft, and toenails in good shape. Every inch of your body is a potential selling point. You never know what customer is gonna like what part of you, so make sure every part is in good shape.
2b. Appearance.
Does your makeup compliment your face and outfit properly? Does your makeup convey a look of glamour and sexiness?
How's your outfit? Clean smelling and wrinkle free? Does it compliment your body? Are your shoes in good condition?
Is your hair fresh smelling, clean and styled nicely?
3. State of mind.
what is your state of mind before you walk out the door? Are you happy? Are you ready to deal with customers in a positive way? Do you have any baggage you need to drop off before you get to work? If so - drop it off. Do not leave the house with your baggage. Clear your mind, get your mood right.
4. Goals
Do you have a goal in mind? If not, make one. If you do, take a moment to sit down and look at your goal, and WHY it's your goal. It's important to keep in mind why you have that goal to stay focused on it, otherwise it may start to seem less important and you may stray from it.
At work
1. Double check your appearance. Still good?
2. Double check your mood. Still in the right frame of mind to make money?
3. Hit the floor! No bitching, no complaining, hit the floor. Got turned down 5 times in a row? Go recheck your mood, your might be getting discouraged now and it's starting to show through. If you've been at work for 8 hours and not sold 1 dance yet, you still need to act like you just hit the floor, having a perfect night. Customers can smell desperation and disappointment a mile away. Get rid of it, put it away, that won't help you now. Keep your mood in check at all times.
4. Are you smiling? Do you look like your having a great time?
5. Are you reaching your goal? Why or why not? If your not, take a second to figure out why. Is it just a slow night? Is there anything in your power you can do to fix the problem to reach your goal?
Are you reaching your goal? Good. Give yourself a pat on the back.
After work
1. How was your night? Take a moment, sit down and evaluate your night. Did you reach your goal? Why or why not?
What can you do tomorrow to reach it?
Are you consistantly reaching your goals? Do you need to set higher ones?
How was your hustle? What did you do wrong? What can you do to change it? What did you do right? What was your best and worst moment at work?
It sounds like a lot of work, but it's not really. You can think of stuff on your drive to and from work, as you listen to music to get you pumped up.
I have said it before that think a problem I had was overthinking the job instead of just doing it. But there is a fine line here, because I think that if you just float in on a breeze with no preplanning at all, you will crash and fail.
I hope that at least some of this was helpful..although it's for me as well. I haven't worked in 2 months, and then just decided to start showing up again, with no planning at all, and I am not doing well. I needed to see my thoughts written down, and thought it might be helpful for others as well.
Good luck!
