Default So I permed my hair....

.... and I must have missed something in the styling tutorial I got. I cannot create a single decent look!

So I was told to spray in the detangler solution... blot my hair dry with a towel, don't rub vigoously, don't scrunch....section my hair because there's a lot of it. Put on a curl setting lotion or gel. Then to wrap pieces around my finger to define the curls. Air dry for a bit, then use the diffuser (drying from the bottom of the curls up).

That's where it gets messed up. By the time I start diffusing pieces have already started coming apart, and obviously the diffuser doesn't work quickly so the lovely defined curls I created have all gone to shit! recurling them doesn't do much because they've started drying in the wrong position.

Am I just using inferior products? Does anyone have any tips on how I can style so that I look halfway human? the way it was permed and the way he styled it initially gave me loose but defined ringlets. Now I have a bunch of very skinny curls alternated with pieces that still look like they're in the wrapping stage (ie- flat.)

    I need help!

Have you tried just applying mouse after towel drying and letting it air dry? I know it takes longer but seems to work for me. The diffuser deal just seems to not work for me either. But I am blonde and figured that was the problem...LOL...
    Anyways hope this helps.

I had no luck with the diffuser either, it just made my hair frizzy and blah. Air drying was much better.

Another thing that worked for me was to do the process you described at night, then to loosely pile my hair on the very top of my head, using a loose scrunchy or claw clip to hold it, then go to bed.

The next morning, I would take it down and have perfect spiral ringlets. Why, I have no idea...but if I did anything else, my hair would be flat and only mildly wavy.

Good suggestions! It seems like the diffuser is the common problem here... so I am going to try airdrying. if that doesn't fix it I'm going to experiment with different products.

Try using Paul Mitchell Round Trip. It maked the curls nice and bouncy and defined.
