I just started the birth control Zovia 35 yesterday. How long do I have to wait before having unprotected sex? I threw out the damn pamphlet by mistake.

most BC pills take up to a week to get in your system.
but i would call your Dr. ask at the pharmacy for another pamphlet

im 100 percent sure its 30 days before you can stop using a condom
I've always been told one week. I've been on it for 8 years and have never even had a scare.
They tell you 30 days..but that is the overly cautious answer.
I never heard 1 week tho....but I'm not sure how long it takes to work into your system and start doing the things it's suposed to.
I would personally give it 2 weeks just to be safe.
Whenever I switch to a differant hormone they tell me up to a month before it has taken full effect on your system.
I've been on the pill for 17 years(differant types)...so I never NOT have hormones in my system anymore! But I use a backup for a month when I switch..just to be on the safe side.

I've always heard 7 days, even when I first started BC ever they said 7 days! Makes me wonder...
Hey,
You need to use some type of protection for 30 days. The pills start taking in you body with in the first week but, you do not have the levels that you need to protect you for that first month. Hope this makes sense.
