    Default I Need Some Help Please!

    Ok I just started dancing and I will be dancing again for the 4th time ever tommorrow or something.Anyways,I realized that since I am my own "business", how do we pay our taxes or something like that?You when you get a check and L&I takes a portion out and Fed w/h.How do we do it?I don't know much about tax things lol.I really apprieciate the help!Thank you SW!

    To be honest, you should just do a search of this forum - there have been hundreds of threads along these lines covering all sorts of aspects of taxation. Alternatively, Melonie will provide a full and concise answer...

    the best way to discover the not so wonderful world of dancers and taxes is to hit the 'search' link on the purple line above and use keywords 'estimated taxes' - which will bring you to a whole bunch of old discussions on this issue.

    Basically, instead of having an employer withhold estimated taxes from your paychecks and sending in the money to the IRS automatically on your behalf, as a self-employed business person you now have to do your own withholding and make your own estimated tax payments to the IRS.
