I have to literally remove myself if there's bad food around that I really want to eat. Also, force yourself to eat a bunch of veggies or something good. When you're full, you won't crave.

    Whenever I get a craving...I do 3 things.
    1) brush my teeth...most food tastes yucky after that
    2) work out...jump on the treadmill for 10 minutes...raises endorphins and usually I wont want it any more because I feel so healthy now!
3)drink a large glass of water. Sometimes craving for food stems from basic dehydration.

If after all this...I STILL want it. I have some. SOME. One piece of pizza...2 small cookies...not binge! I figure if I've done all that I deserve it(and hell..the workout burned off most of the calories anyway!)

Hehe, that brushing teeth thing NEVER worked for me.

I'd also like to add "get high on caffene" (one strong cup o' coffee does it for me). I think I heard somewhere that it's an appetite suppressant. But really, I'm just so busy running around like a crazy person to think about food.

Keeping yourself busy and caffeinated really helps. When I'm running around, I totally don't take time to eat. HOWEVER, that isn't healthy at all considering that once I slow down, I'm starving and want to eat something bad now!

What helps me is having healthy stuff all around me for the moment I crave some crap. If I have nothing to eat and I'm grumpy and starved (like I was earlier) I'll just eat fast food (like I just did, boo)

Throw the junk food in your house out and don't buy it. If you're craving fast food, think of all the rats that crawl and shit all over the food in there. That should help.

I just posted a similar thread and am using on of the responses I got. I'm drinking a delicious (sugar free flavored!) french vanilla ice coffee. It's yummy, its filling, it has that appetite suppressing caffine and the only bad thing in it is the cream...which isnt that bad.

It seems to me that when I cut back or only allow myself small portions of what I want that I don't miss eatting as much food. I also try to eat 5-6 times a day so I don't get hungry. It's like as long as I limit my portions of those foods I crave or do away with them all together than I don't miss them. Right now I usually eat whole grain cheerios for breakfast then a protein bar mid morning. For lunch it's usually a sandwich, than early afternoon some fruit or another protein bar, then dinner I have some vegetables with chicken, turkey or fish. Finally late evening I have a couple cups of popcorn. If I start craving chocolate then I eat one of those 100 calories bags of fudge cookies or chocolate chip cookies. If it's just wanting something sweet then I'll grab some jelly beans. I also like those Weight Watcher's popcicles with the oreo crumbs on them. Eatting this way is the only way I can keep the weight off. I rarely eat red meat or pork. I don't indulge in pasta whatsoever. I eat pizza once in a blue moon. I don't miss the things I don't eat. It's almost like controlling an addiction sometimes.

Call me strange, but I just start to convince myself that X(craving)X is really gross and disgusting and that Y(healthy food)Y is really yummy. I guess it's called BSing yourself.

Don't go to the grocery store hungry. Have healthier options at home that are easy to make, especially for when you're exausted and are tempted to do fastfood. Always have something healthy in your purse incase you're out and are starving.

You just...don't eat those foods or not in large amounts. Maybe you can't control experiencing your cravings, but you can choose whether to act on them or not.

I think you usually experience cravings for a reason, and you should listen to your body. Maybe it's just me, but I've never had any success with self-denial. The trick is to realize that your satisfaction with a flavor peaks after two or three bites, and after that you're just gorging unnecessarily.

So if you want pizza, then have one slice of pizza for dinner with a salad to round it out. If you want chocolate, have one piece of chocolate. If you want ice cream, have a bite or two. If you want fries, get a small order and share it with someone. There's no reason to deny yourself good food, just don't gorge on it.

I find if I get really healthy and buckle down for a few days then after that I don't want the bad foods. I've been working out regularly and tanning and, frankly, pizza doesn't seem all that special to me. BBQ? BLAH! Chilli and chips? NAH! Oooh, but some cucumber and dressing sounds delish! P:

Eating fruit helps curb the sweets cravings. Really. Keep fruit and other healthy snacks around, and grab those when you want a snack. Eat an apple first thing in the morning. Eat an orange in the afternoon. Munch on strawberries, grapes, kiwi, peaches, plain roasted nuts....

Eat several times a day, not just 1 or 2 large meals. You can munch almost constantly all day on more healthy stuff and lose weight. If you're eating often, you won't crave so much and your appetite will diminish. Also, this raises your metabolism so you burn more calories just doing nothing.

Be good all week, then allow yourself one cheat day to eat whatever strikes your fancy. Just eat it in normal portions. Giving yourself a cheat day helps keep you from feeling deprived so you don't break down one day and try to eat a whole cow.

Busy and caffeinated works for me too. Otherwise, I just cave, and work out extra if I need to.

Yall, caffeine is just trading one dependency for another = bad for longterm. Teaching yourself to cheat in moderation is the best way to go. You get to have your crap foods, just not in high enough amounts to make you fat!

I didn't say it was healthy! lol. Though I will argue with anyone who thinks artificial sweeteners are safer/better for you than caffeine.

I have a huge problem with self control when it comes to sweets. If there is cheesecake in the house I will find it and eat half of it until I'm about to puke. As much as I try to reason with myself it all goes out the window.

The only thing I can do is to sabotage my food or just throw it out. If somehow sweets find their way into my house via a caring neighbor or grandma I immediately must throw them in the trash. I can't even second guess myself on this because I'll just wind up eating until they are gone. I sleepwalk and no ones caught me yet but I'm pretty sure I eat in my sleep too. Like I said....nooo self control whatsoever. Its painful to waste them but its not like they were nutritious anyways. Sometimes I'll cook my food with too much salt or spices so its not as appealing to me either.

The biggest factor in my weight loss over the past two months has been recognizing thirst versus hunger. It seems like most of the time when my mouth feels like it needs food its only thirst. I'll drink a big glass of water when I think I'm hungry, wait about 10 min and usually find that I'm fine or distracted doing something else. When I want a treat after denying myself sweets sometimes a glass of lemonade is all I need.

The only time I really get cravings is when I'm PMSing and then I just usually indulge them, but just a little bit. Like half a Taco Bell burrito or something like that.

If you can't just have a few bites of something you're craving, some of the suggestions here really appealed to me.

Brushing your teeth definitely works, since food does taste nasty after that.

Nibbling on healthy but tasty stuff during the day is a great idea too. It helps to keep your energy up throughout the day too.

Drinking a big glass of water also is filling and helps to keep you hydrated.

But yeah, a big part of it really is self-control. If you choose to not deny yourself something completely, at least curtail your consumption of it.

I munch on soy nuts when I start to crave something bad. They are healthier than peanuts and don't really have too much of an after taste so I sit and eat a couple ounces and have some water in between meals. They are super cheap and you can get them in the bulk section of a supermarket.

I've found that blending 1 banana, 2 cups frozen berries and green tea together, and then drinking that all day (maybe even adding some kind of protein powder) does the trick for me. it keeps me drinking fluids all day and keeps me full
