Umm... it's just a vegan diet. Also no smoking, alcohol, or drugs. No processed foods at all, including artificial sweeteners. Lots of exercise.
I'd like to see someone follow it and NOT have results. The results aren't the "maybe" part of the diet; the following it is!
I bought that book... such a waste of money. It's meanly written and tries to make you feel bad about putting anything other than vegan stuff in your body. I didn't find it helpful at all. It's REALLY triggering if you have an ED so I had to stop reading it half-way through but it was the same thing all the way through. Not alot of actual information.
Here's an example:
"The FDA doesn't require companies to divulge the presence of these beauties if they are used in packaging, though they can come into contact with the food you're eating. So your junk food has ashelf life of twenty-two years and will probably outlive your fat, sorry ass." (17)
(They were talking about chemicals BHT and BHA... didn't say anything about them other than they are chemical preservatives.)
Aside from that, the vegan lifestyle isn't for everyone.
Anyways, my results: I felt really bad about myself
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.

Thanks, I'll save my money, I like booze too much!

I'm a succesful skinny bitch, but I don't need a book. Girls, you gotta work out. Four times a week is all, including dancing. If you're only dancing, tho, you gotta add aerobic for two of your work outs. You just gotta do the exercise. I also recommend yoga. My body has gotten very hot from running and yoga, four workouts a week. And I don't eat chocolate any more. It was give up that or beer, and so I threw out the m&ms and it's gone, baby, all of the cheese is gone. You need to isolate that problem food that's kicking your ass, and eliminate it all together. I don't believe that alcohol is a big deal, not like food with a lot of fat in it. Have discipline in that one area, eat enough to stay strong but don't eat compulsively. If you have that tendency, which I did, I recommend pre-setting out on a plate or bowl, how much of something you think you should have instead of reaching into a bag of yummies. If you gotta have the candy, set out how much you're going to let yourself have and that's that. YOu can eat a boat load without even realizing it, but if you look at it ahead of time, you'll go, "Well, that looks like a reasonable amount" long before you would if you weren't able to monitor it visually. Also, be patient and remember your goal. Six months is about what it takes to lost ten pounds effectively and for the long-term.Trust me, in the club the mean girls look at me with real hatred, and I'm pretty sure it's because of the body.

Maybe this book is riding off the idea that veganism is a ticket to weight loss, which it's not. Either way, you don't need it. Eat less+exericse and whole foods for the win.

i saw an interview with the lady who wrote it and the interviewer was like "so dairy is bad?" and the author goes "if you eat that, you're a fat pig!" i was like umm wtf?! talk about skinny bitch.

ummmm, hell no! I'm sitting here drinking wine reading this. And I just ate a Lean Cuisine.

I've known people for whom this was not the case because well, chips, nut butters, beans, vegan desserts and larger portions and so on are still legally vegan and still fattening. Ultimately it's about calories in-out, vegan or omnivore. One can choose to eat clean and junk free on either type of diet. Which is what I meant by the "ticket to weight loss thing" Of course when one increases vegetable and fruit intake and cuts out junk, we reduce calories and lose weight. But this is not exclusive to veganism.

I lost weight as a vegan myself, and I continued to eat foods that are high fat and I didn't restrict myself as to quantity. However, I was fairly overweight when I went vegan, so any dietary change would have made a difference. Veganism was a particularly helpful one at the time, though, since it did lead me more in the direction of healthier eating without any sense that I was 'dieting' as such (since I made the change for ethical reasons and only stopped for health ones- I became B12 deficient and sick within six months). Most junk food was off-limits due to dairy or egg-containing additives, and I really had to look if I wanted to find a brand of chocolate, biscuits or cake that I could eat. I found myself eating mostly soy products, wholegrains, fruit and vegetables, plus vegan treats when I could find them. If you're not that overweight, you may have to put more effort in than I did to see results, though, since the body is more resistant to weight loss at lower levels of body fat.

When I was dancing, I tried to work out three times a week and I stayed away from the booze and I didn't smoke. I maintained a consistent 125 pounds. I am 5' 6" tall. After I quit dancing, my weight went up to 135, so I started working out more and got back to 125. Yeah! Pregnancy packed on about fifty pounds. I breast fed my baby for two years. That plus regular workouts got me to my present 130. My bf likes me at this weight. More important, I like this weight. The point is, exercise is important. Any diet that keeps junk food and deserts away will probably work.

wow i guess i will skip out on buying the book. how insensitve to readers that could very well have eating disorders or tendencies!
IMO...everyone's biochemical signatures are different so diets should be suited to the signatures. Like the old book about Eating Right for Your Type kind of thing.
As women we NEED calcium in larger doses than men do so to completely eliminate all dairy may not be a wise move unless lactose intolerant. Calcium in food is much easier for the body to process vs the suppliments as are all vitamins and minerals.
It took me a year but I dropped 80 LBS just by 3 days a week in the gym (1 hour each session with 30 min being cardio), walking everywhere possible and drinking water by the gallon (Averaged a 4 Litre water jug daily)
I ate clean in the Tosca Reno sense...(her book would be infinitely better IMHO!)...but had one cheat day where if I wanted an order of fries n gravy or a slice of cheesecake or whatever I would have it but only one serving. This prevented sugar, carb, and sodium withdrawls for me as well as not leaving me feeling deprived.
I've kept the weight off now for approximately 7 years now and that includes my first and current pregnancy...(my weight gain has been minimal yet healty for both pregnancies)
Just prior to finding out I was preggers with my son I actually got down to a six pack and zero boobsand was looking at competing in my first Fitness Figure competition...however that + sign said I would have to wait.
Point also is however you ate to lose the weight is how you will have to eat for a lifetime....You have to choose the FOREVER solution not the FOR NOW solution...that is what I tell girls/women who come to me for fitness and nutrition advice.
Can you live 110% vegan from now till death...never indulge in a trip to the pizza parlor near you or any restaurant for that matter...or never taste a potato chip or other similar food? Never touch any alcohol or beverage that has soda pop in it like rum n coke? Can you avoid ethnic foods as well...
Personally I want to enjoy life to the full and not have to have so much concern over what I eat...Work out regular, drink insane amounts of water, daily fibre and keep my portions limited and I'll be alright. It has worked for almost a decade already...
Just my 2 cents...
Be very careful if you make a woman cry, because God counts her tears. The woman came out of a man's rib. Not from his feet to be walked on. Not from his head to be superior, but from the side to be equal. Under the arm to be protected, and next to the heart to be loved."
Hebrew Talmud
The calcium in vegetables such as leafy greens is far more bioavailable to humans than another species' milk.
Eliminating dairy would be a great move for anyone who wants to avoid antibiotics and growth hormones as well as saturated fat--and the coronary disease that follows.
I agree wholeheartedly that humans need calcium. But they don't need cow's milk.

Okay, I LOVED this book (and I consider myself a book snob). I was cracking up constantly as I read it. The authors are being sardonic, girls. You can't take them too seriously.
The "diet" they suggest will definitely help you lose weight if you are not already vegan. I am a vegetarian already, but I thought that the things they said were quite valid. They presented the information in a way that was entertaining.

Amen! I don't drink milk because of the sugars and I am not lacking calcium at all. My way of eating calls for at least 2 cups of dark, leafy greens a day as well as 1 cup of veggies.
It's a fallacy that you "have to drink milk or you'll end up with osteoporosis". I also think that people would be a lot healthier as they got older if they weren't forced to drink it as child.
I'd love to go vegan for the principle. Unfortunately, my blood sugar problems prevent me from eating things most of the things that a vegan can eat.

I think the book sounds interesing and enteraining. I don't know if it would work well for me in the long-term though since I'm a milk drinker.

Last thing I know I need is a book telling me I'm a fatass.![]()
