    Any advice with promos?

I hate promos, I hate them very much. A lot of times it causes me to lose money cause i'll be there with a customer about to go in the vip or something and then there it happens, all entertainers backstage, i'm like I hate this!!!!!!! Then I go back and another girl will get my customer or something, sometimes they wait on me but you know guys, if they're nice and care they will wait, if not then o well. My question, I suck at selling them, I think it's my approach, I walk up and say if it's a shirt, I put it in front of me, smile and say would you like this shirt, I either get no (mostly) or I get What do I need to do to get it and that's usually when I sell it. I want to get more of the what do I do to get this and less no's. Any suggestions or am I doing anything wrong with my wording, etc....

LOL! Do you work at Rick's Cabaret? All I can tell you is is that this is precisely why I quit my old club, Rick's, and am working at the club I work at now. I like the club to work for ME...I do NOT work for the club.

that's how it was at the cheetah. I hated it. Especially being new, because I always would somehow get carried away dancing/talking with a customer and miss the promo and then get CHARGED for it. If we didn't sell it and go do the loser dance on the stage (lined up like cattle, btw) we owed the club 15 dollars for not selling it. I think that changed since the new manager is there now though.

I hate promos too.. mainly because I think clubs that do them are greedy pieces of shit further trying to take our money.. (what pisses me off most about this is that most dancers Ive met are single moms.. as if we arent getting fucked enough as it is..assholes).. anyways.. yeah.. I did good at selling the useless shit by walking up to the guy and asking if he wants a threesome with supermodels.. he usually says yes.. then I go into a pitch about how the shirt will get him threesomes with supermodels.. it makes him irresistable to women and that it will also get him a million dollars.. it also serves a multitude of purposes.. 1 being that if he ever goes camping it makes a fine tent (stupid club only sold XL so this jokes worked).. it could also be cut into a million rags that would get supermodels to wash his car for him - naked of course. I would basically pitch the shirt in a really awesome infomercial style with a huge smile.. if they said they didnt want it I would ask if they were gay.. obviously any straight man wants a threesome with super models.. yeah.. so anyways.. i only didnt sell 2 and thats because I didnt pitch my line to them.. i had potential VIP's I had been working on selling to customers.. anyways.. yeah.. thats it.

Well the question is, do you want to sell it or don't you? I usually decide before I walk out on the floor if I want to sell it or not. If I have someone waiting for me who's worth more money than the feature then I'm not selling it. If I have nothing better to do, or there's a customer who will tip me extra, then I will.

If it's interrupting your hustle, try to figure out ahead of time when the feature will be. Run back and ask the housemom. Whenever I see our bouncer carrying back merch. then I know it's almost time and I can plan around it.

I ALWAYS busted ass to sell them. It's a numbers game. Ask as many guys as you can. Getting rejected for it is easier than getting rejected for a regular dance because you can tell yourself they didn't want the useless shirt or a thong with the club's logo on it. Here are the pros for selling it:

    1. The club sets up the selling situation for you. The guys KNOW you're gonna come by and ask them. So DO IT. Wanna-dance the hell out of them. It's okay this time. Ask as many people as you can.
    2. It's still more money in your pocket, regardless of the cut the club gets.
    3. What else are you doing during those one or two songs? Can you sell a regular dance? No. So either make no money during those two songs, or get some money during those songs. It adds up at the end of the night.
    4. Laugh inside at the other girls that don't try. At least by trying you will sell more than they do.
    5. Having a good attitude while you're trying to sell it is exactly the way you want customers to see you. Don't use the time to parade your bad attitude. It only makes you look like a bitch and no one wants dances from a bitch.

Just my 2 cents. We did four promos a night. Each dance was $30 and we got to keep $15. Girls would bitch that they had to pay the club $60 at the end of the night. I was thinking, um, dumbass, you are walking away with $60 more than if you hadn't sold them!! Plus, the guys often tip on top of them too.

First, wear a watch. Estimate at what time each hour the club will be doing a promo. Timing is everthing. Do not set up a dance around that time from a customer you know will spend alot of money. Try selling your promo to someone who has turned you down already. They may be to cheap to pay full price but a willing to do the special. Also, I see dumb girls doing way too much in the dance special. As far as I'm concerned you get what you pay for. If you are clearing $15, make sure you get paid up front, give em an air dance till the end, get them interested in doing one at full price.

Try working at one of my clubs, where they do a promo EVERY HOUR. We hate it, customers hate it; they get this deer-in-the-headlights look whenever we all come down for promo, they flee to the bathrooms or outside to smoke and just have this look on their faces like "oh shit, not again!" 8-10 promos per night is insane.

We don't have to pay if we don't sell them though. If we did, I'd be out of that club so fast I'd leave a smoke trail.
