    Default teachers a lot younger

I am 29 years old and all of our theory instructors are 21-22 years old. I know age is relative in a lot of situations but it just makes me feel a bit weird that my instructors are so much younger than me sometimes. Plus they are teaching cosmetology and since I am paying 17k for school wonder why they didn't choose instructors with a bit more experience.

I had this problem with a different gunsmithing school. Your school is hiring graduates as teachers because it is cheaper. All theory no experience. I transfered to a different school so that I would get instruction from people who had actually made a living at it. Time to look for a new and more recommended cosmetology school. Go to different salons and ask owner where their best cosmetologists had gone to school.

If they know what they're doing and how to teach it, who cares how old they are? I started teaching at 22 and I was damn good at it. Just because they're younger than you doesn't mean they don't have anything to teach you.

But if they had like 15 years experience, they'd probably still be stuck in 1992 and teaching you how to outline your lips with eyeliner

No, they are definately up to date with the latest styles and trends. It's the Aveda Institute. Out of the top 200 salons in the country 111 of them are Aveda concept salons. A lot of the top salons in Charlotte hire new graduates from there. I am impressed with what I have learned. I still believe there is something to be said for experience in a field and mental maturity. I have met very mature 18 year olds and very immature 50 year olds. These girls act within their age range and teach decent, I guess I just expect more information for my money.
