NO car what can I do?

I did some stripping (like a night or two ) but I dont have a drivers license (just a state Id) and obvisously no car. I am so scared of driving and dont have the funds to go take lessons at any rate.

I would like to start stripping to help me get lessons and a car and for school, but i cant see how im going to get home reliably with out one already in my possession. I did a search on no car here but I didnt see any threads so if there are more threads I do apologise.

Any advice would definately help THANKS!

btw i was thinking cab but you dont know about them cabbies at times! I forgot to say that I dont know anyone I feel comfy telling that I am a dancer either

You don't need a car!! If you live in or around a metropolitan area there's got to be a bus system, right? I'm car-less by choice.. I mean it is easy considering where I live, but it was confusing at first. Get to know the bus system for getting to work. Now that I know the bus system here, it's SO easy to get around- and a lot less stressful than waiting in traffic. For getting home, make friends with the other dancers and try to find one who lives by you to give you a ride, or at last resort take a taxi. I took taxis my first two weeks while I was still getting to know everyone- it wasn't that bad- only expensive!

Oh I love the bus system here but they arnt late night. I have read so many threads here where girlys said Taxis arnt so good cause you never know about the driver I think the get to know a stripper idea is good BUT once again I try not to know girls to well cause I try to stay low drama! (if not no drama)! I think Im up shit creek on this one.

Maybe Taxi will have to do for a month of two

I'd rather take my chances with a taxi than walk to a bus stop after dark and wait alone. Do not take the bus home! That would make things soooo easy for a crazy or a stalker.

I've found some cab drivers I'm very comfortable with. I've asked for their phone numbers, so I can call them directly instead of the cab company.

great post fifi i think that is what i may to. Grab a taxi and if I feel really comfy ill just use him over and over and tell my husband his cab number and phone number (hubby wakes up early so he cant pick me up at night) and make sure to mention that so he knows if he pulls something he will be in trouble

This is what I'd suggest (keep in mind, I don't drive either): Catch the bus into work. When it's time to get off, start asking girls who lives in your area. After you get a girl to agree, drop her a couple dollars and exchange numbers.

I'm a very quiet person at work, and I would much rather everyone not knowing where I stay, but hey sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do.

If you're a new girl that won't work. I don't know of a single new girl that I'd really help out like that - you never know WHO'll stalk you! Maybe after a few weeks, yeah, but not a day or two.

Bus in, cab home. It's what I did.

Why don't you ask a manager or someone at your club if they have a driver they recommend? That why you'll know it's someone safe (in theory, at least). I did this for a few months and my driver was awsome..."forgot" to turn on the meter sometimes, too

I'm also someone who does not drive. I take the bus in and taxi at night except on weekend, when the doorman is there and we live in the same local. He takes me home Fridays and Saturdays.

if you can't do rideshare, i say take cabs (find a cabbie you like, get his cab # and request him/her... stick with one or two for more comfort) until stripping can pay for a new vehicle. (and of course, I WILL recommend, if it's not too psychologically unreachable... trying a motorcycle... a used one can be found fairly cheap!! and I feel SOOOO much safer on my bike than in my car... especially driving home from work. I have never once had to fear being followed home... ha, good luck catchin' up!) But mention a rideshare at work.... you never know until you try. Some people might be down for saving gas if they actually think they can count on you to show up... but then it's YOU who must be responsible.

All in all, i say your post tells me that you need to learn to trust a bit more. not everyone and no one who hasn't earned it... but your suspicions are making life harder than it has to be.

Thanks for all the good ideas, I have decided to bus in and taxi out till another arrangement can be worked out (and i love the idea of asking the managers for recommendations!). I love the motorcycle idea as well! My ex had one and now I am in love!

In regards to me not being so trusting, I am that way for damn good reasons! I have had some serious stuff happen and now I am more caustious almost to the point of callus but that is me. For that I apologize for sounding so stand off-ish. As long as the hubby loves me though

Some advice from a once scared to drive person..

I grew up with a parent who did not know how to drive. We lived in the city and did not need to. I grew up in poverty so it was not like when I turned 16 I could afford to get my lic. So I lived without one. When I turned 18 I started escorting, and through there I got to know a few drivers who were actually quite decent. These guys are not the prevs many people make them out to be. Most of them are just needing some extra $$.

When I started attending a university outside the city I grew up in, I soon learned that the bus system was simply not going to cut it. The buses here don't run past 6pm (unless going to the uni- they run till 11pm during the academic year), and most often they only come hourly. I would basically have to either walk 15 km or plan a whole day around doing basic shopping. I got my lic and purchased some driving lessons with an educational fund I got-even though I assume the money was supposed to go to university. Trust me---I needed lessons! Not only did I pay for the 10 that came with the classes, I got tons more on top of that. It took me 1 yr of lessons, plus 3 attempts at the road test to finally pass my G1 exit. This is because I only got practice with an instructor, I did not feel comfortable enough with anyone I knew in the town to ask them to borrow their car. It cost me a lot of money to learn to drive, but my car is what helps me make money.

I suggest getting a driver that deals with the sex business. They are not a scary as you may think. Cab drivers can be a bit shady, especially if you are getting a new driver every ride. It is best to go with someone you know or someone another dancer can recommend. Too bad you are not in Toronto, because I know of a few good people who are not total pervs.
