    Default My bewbs are rippling....;-(

I've always been able to notice a rippling effect at the very bottom of my boobs, but it was very slight. Recently I have been noticing it more and more going up the side of my boobs when I'm bending over, even slightly.

I'm sure this is happening because I have lost weight and because my implants are almost 10-years-old. I sent an email to my plastic surgeon's office and am hoping to hear back soon. Rumor has it that he retired, but they still have that contact info so maybe not. I'm thinking he might give me a deal since he did the first ones.

The silicone gel is very tempting, but I am scared to put that into my body. What do you guys think?

If you've lost breast tissue then chances are the next set of implants will show some rippling too. Sometimes with just the right overfill a doc can make salines that don't noticabley ripple, but its soooo hard to get that goldilocks boob. Its a tough choice, cross your fingers for goldilocks salines that aren't too under-filled (rippling) or too overfilled (hard) OR go with silicones that already come perfectly balanced but run some risk of heath problems.

Its up to you to decide what you feel safe with, and you have plenty of time to research. I think the evidence these days is showing that the modern silicone implants are much safer than the old, and that the disease scare of the past was never proven, and likely blown out of proportion. But its your body so its up to you! Just make an informed decision.

Thanks, I'm sure I will be able to make a better decision once I do more research. I just thought that someone else on here might have been through the same thing. I guess not considering I only got one response to my thread. I will ask elsewhere.

If you are afraid of the normal silicone gel implants you might want to look into coehsive gel ("gummy bear implants") They are the consistancy of a gummy bear throughout the whole implant and hold their shape. Consequently, even if they happen to form a hole in the shell the silcone doesn't leak into your body. They also have little to no instances of rippling because of the uniform consistancy of them. The only major downsides are the fact that not all doctors use them, so you have to do a bit more hunting than usual to find a good doctor. Also since they are the shape and size they are before they go into your body, the doctor can't squeeze them into as tiny of an opening as a fillable saline implant, so depending on the skill of the doctor you may have more limited incision options. Here's a link:

I'm pretty sure that this is the kind of implant I'm going to go for when I take the plunge.

If you go with silicone, plan to get MRIs instead of mammograms. Mammograms are indicated as a main cause of silicone implants busting and leaking. An MRI won't squeeze the hell out of your boobs like a mammogram, and will show any problems better. Costs more, but it's only once a year and worth it, IMO.

Andy, Does being under the muscle help? I have saline UTM and haven't had any rippling (7+years). Since there are options other than silicone, I probably wouldn't go with that, although I see the perks. Sorry you're having rippling.

Mine are UTM and I still have some rippling, but it has more to do with the 15 or so pounds I've lost in the last year.

My recommendation is for the newer cohesive silicone ones, since it seems you have to trade off with saline. No rippling if they're overfilled, but they end up very firm. If you want them softer, even UTM, and they're filled at bit less, they'll ripple more.

It seems difficult finding what someone once here referred to as "goldilocks" saline implants: the ones that are filled just right.

Yeah, I think it definitely helps. I had considerable breast tissue that pretty much covers the implant. The rippling is just on the side, kind of along the bottom.

I don't know if I'll be in any hurry to get them redone. They still look great, for the most part.
