    Default Dizziness

Okay before you answer, yes, i am going to go see a doctor about this asap. just want some suggestions as to what people think the problem might be...

many of you remember my little adventure into the world of diet drugs, right? for those of you that don't, i used to take clenbuterol while going through a bit of a manic weight obsession phase. i got a little bit out of control on it and took too much and ended up almost overdosing (i think) in my car on the way home from the gym. i got really really dizzy and my whole body went tingly and hot and i felt really spaced out and felt like i might faint. i'd never felt like that before in my life.

since then, i haven't touched clen. however... i've continued to occasionally get the exact same dizzy spells. at first it wasn't too bad, but over the last few days it has intensified and i've been getting really extreme dizzy spells and feeling really sick and like i might pass out. it seems to happen randomly, and then goes away and i'll be fine. it happens a lot when i'm driving. it usually stars with a twitch.. like i'll get this weird twitch go through my body and then my feet and arms go numb and then my whole body goes tingly and my heart beats kinda fast and i get really dizzy and spaced out. and it comes and goes in waves. sometimes it'll last for a few minutes and other times it can last for half an hour. i have no idea what's causing it... i've eaten plenty of food today, i'm not dehydrated, i haven't had any drugs or alcohol...

has anyone experienced anything like this before? or does anyone have any ideas of what could be causing it?

Are there any other symptoms you have been noticing; such as, peeing alot, headaches, dry skin etc? If anything, I'm no doctor, it could be lasting effects from the clen. I really don't know what advice to give other than stay hydrated like you've being doing and keep eating healthy.

No, no other symptoms. i just dunno if it's related to the clen or not... i mean, that was MONTHS ago. i dunno if it was maybe an underlying problem and taking too much clen that day triggered the symptoms? i just dunno.

i'm gonna call a doctor and make an appointment tomorrow.

I hope they figure things out. I only say it because people who took ephedra had long lasting heart conditions from it but not all. Hope you feel well soon and don't have any more of those scary symptoms.

Have you ever had an EKG? You might need to get your heart checked to make sure you don't have any arrhythmias. Some of these drugs can cause these sorts of problems.

Try eating more protein. This used to happen to me from time to time. Even though I thought I was hydrated I wasn't. Up your water intake too. If you're still exercising a lot, then you should drink about two gallons a day.

When it was ba for me, my resting heart rate would be around 180 bpm. It hurt.

If during your spells, it's hard to get water down (it was for me for some reason) try just holding it in your mouth.

Good luck with the doctor, keep us posted.

    what's an EKG?

clen can fuck with your heart, so who knows, maybe i did some damage. if so, i certainly learned my lesson! hah.

i've been doing some reading and it may have something to do with low blood pressure. it's strange that it mostly happens when i'm driving :/

I have suffered from low blood pressure. The dizziness with low blood pressure usually occurs when going from laying or sitting to standing. It usually won't come on when you are driving down the road. An EKG is an electrocardiogram. It checks for various heart abnormalities, the doctor who is reading it can tell if you have any irregular heart rhythms. It's pretty simple and pain free, they just attach a few sticky leads to your chest and print out a report. Here is a link for more information on it.

It does not sound like low blood pressure to me. I have low blood pressure and as mentioned above it usually makes me dizzy when I go from sitting or lying down to standing or when exercising heavily.

It could be anxiety. There is a good chance it is related to those diet pills tho.

back in high school i went through phases of not eating enough calories and those were my symptoms. Those sound like symptoms right before passing out. I dont think i was old enough to drive so it wasn't when i was driving. hope you are okay, good luck!

I've had anxiety before and this is completely different. Driving doesn't stress me out, but it seems to occasionally trigger the problem.

Another feeling I forgot to mention that comes with the dizzy spells, is it feels like I'm wearing a tight hat on my head. Like there's something gently squeezing my head.

I do have a bad cold at the moment... so I guess it could be related to that, except I've never had dizziness when I've had a cold before.

I'm supposed to be going to see The Cure in concert tonight but I'm panicking that I'll have another dizzy spell and that I might pass out if I can't get to fresh air or away from the noise

It does sound like an anxiety or fainting spell to me too, though I don't know about the head squeezing or the twitching. I have had dizziness and head squeezing with a bad sinus infection though-mention it to your doc if they don't check out your nose and all.

Maybe a different manifestation of anxiety? Some days I get the naseous part, some days it's more the out of breathness, etc.

I'd get a bottle of water ASAP (or sneak one in) when you get to the show, so if you do get faintish you at least have that. A little Rescue Remedy might help as well. Maybe ear plugs if you think it might be overwhelming, noise-wise? I'd a rabid, long time Cure fan myself, but I have brought ear plugs to an indoor show before.

    Feel better!

Bleh, so apparently it's generalized anxiety disorder and I've been having severe panic attacks. He's told me some techniques for calming myself down, and if that doesn't work he said he'll put me on medication

Gosh Darcy well at least you know whats going on now. I want to give you strength to be able to control them yourself so you don't have to be on meds.

That sucks. I have that too. There are lots of ways to try and cope with it other than meds, if you're wary of them. Homeopathic things like Calms Forte work really well, as does kava kava. I'm also a fan of hypnosis cds.

I'm so sorry you are going through this! Some things that may help are cutting your caffeine intake and wearing yourself out with excersize. I'm not sure what you are doing now, but those can really make a huge difference. If you can't get them under control, try Xanax. I've been told that Paxil and Zoloft work for some, but they made mine worse.

    Best of Luck!

I don't drink coffee and I rarely drink Coke, and I do a lot of exercise.

He thinks that it's related to the Clen incident... I explained to him that the reason I think that freaked me out so much was because I NEVER get sick. I never feel sick to my stomach because I'm emetophobic and haven't thrown up since I was 8 years old. I've never fainted before, the closest I ever came to even feeling like I might faint was when I got my tongue pierced. So when the Clen OD nearly made me faint while driving and made me feel like I may vomit, it absolutely scared the crap out of me. And he thinks that's what's triggering the panic attacks when I'm driving.

^^ That makes a lot of sense. I got some sort of food poisoning/stomach yuck after going to New York two years ago and I started getting panic about restaurant food after that.

Something like hypnosis or cognitive therapy might help a lot-you need to set your brain back to not make the car=vomit conclusion if that makes sense.

Darcy does it feel like the blood in your arms and leg gets hot... and you can feel it run up your legs and then you get the dizzy feeling, almost like a head rush? This happened to me from time to time also. I have never been to the doctor though

i know this thread is a month old, but i was looking up threads about panic attacks. i think i'm suffering from the same thing, and mine are very similar to yours.

i can be sitting/standing/driving whatever and out of no where i get really dizzy and i feel "waves" come over me. then i feel kind of scared and sometimes my stomach gets upset (i won't go into details). i also get chills with it and a few times i've had semi distorted perception from it (like walls seem further away or closer than they are).

i've suspected anxiety attacks, but i always assumed you -had- to have breathing problems with them.. like hyperventalating or chest tightness. i've had none of those sytmptoms.

is the doctor's advice helping at all for you darcy?

i get the distorted perception thing too, which is a big thing that freaks me out when i'm driving. i don't hyperventilate but i do get chest tightness and find it really hard to swallow.

the doctor put me on paxil... i made a thread about that just recently. i only took it for 3 days and the side effects were so bad i'm not taking it anymore. i'm going to go back and ask for something different... or i'm gonna just pay for counselling and hope it helps.
