    Default Blaqk Audio's Stiff Kittens

Is anyone else feeling this song as much i am right now. I'm a big fan of depeche mode and other bands of that nature. and this song reminds of bands like that. Blaqk Audio's new cd comes out on the 14th.

    Product Description
DAVEY HAVOK/JADE PUGET: TWO BOYS IN LOVE WITH SYNTHESISERS & SOFTWARE

BLAQK AUDIO, the electronic side project of AFI's Davey Havok and Jade Puget, will finally see the light of day in the form of the debut album CexCells. Recorded by the band in between AFI's extensive touring for DECEMBERUNDERGROUD and mixed by Dave Bascombe (Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, Placebo), CexCells expands upon and fully indulges the dark electronic textures and influences increasingly prevalent in AFI's recent work. The results range from evocation of prima era Depeche Mode and early Ministry ("Stiff Kittens," "Bitter for Sweet," "Where Would You Like Them Left?") to four on the floor club-friendly fare ("On a Friday," "Snuff on Digital") to vulnerable balladry ("Wake Up," "The Fear").

The common thread running through all of BLAQK AUDIO's material-Havok's signature dark vocal and lyrical stylings combined with Puget's epic, emotional arrangements -will be instantly identifiable to AFI fans, despite the synthetic washes, keyboard flourishes and electronic beats supplanting the traditional guitar /bass/drum AFI frame work.

I'm intrigued by this after listening to a few samples on myspace. They absolutely wallow in eighties nostalgia, not a bad thing. The punk message boards are going batshit over it though; AFI guys are: "admitting to being transsexuals" or "making gay music." For dog's sake, what's wrong with people?

Being a spooky kid myself in the 80's, I kinda like it. It's almost too derivative of what it emulates in places, though. "Wallow in it", as Docido said. I uh..."found" pretty much the whole album. There are some definitely playable tracks. I'll have to give it further listens, but it seems okay to me.

I really like Stiff Kitten. Then again, I am a major AFI fan as well and they rock in concert.

Mmmm, the more I listen to this, the more I want to buy those Tears for Fears re-masters. Too many bands now don't know how to be more than the sum of their record collections.

Blaqk Audio does get plus points for naming a song after an obscure Joy Division reference.

Threadjack: Docido, I've mentioned it several times before, but check out www.yourmusic.com . They recently raised the price by a buck, but still. Any single cd on the site is 6.99, free shipping. I got "The Hurting" and "Songs From The Big Chair" in the remastered versions last year sometime. Good stuff.

As for Blaqk Audio, a couple of these tracks are really club-friendly. Those keyboard flourishes in "Stiff Kittens" are straight up Depeche Mode. Eerily so. There's a remix on Frostwire but I can't get it to load. I'll check elsewhere later.

The remixes are atrocious and Jade Puget should stop spreading himself so thin. This is trademark in the electronic music industry as someone going thru a midlife crisis. Feel free to mailbomb all you like. I'm just a moron who doesn't know anything about music.

That line seems really uncalled for, sir. No one here has ever disparaged your musical taste. So, really, no need for the cocky defensiveness. IMHO. Am I taking it out of context? It seemed genuinely "Oh fuck you, I'm so much cooler then you'll ever be." Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I hate probably 90% of the music that gets posted about on here, but I don't get elitist about it. I will agree, the Morel remix sucks, and I haven't listened to the other ones.

Anyhoo, back OT. "Stiff Kittens" is by far the most playable song, but I like "Bitter For Sweet". I played them both for a hip scene girl without telling her who it was and she liked them. So. Yeah.
