Has anyone managed to speed up their hair growth and what technique did you use? ie, Supplements, scalp massage, etc.

I've noticed that my hair growth increased when I started eating more protein... At least, I THINK it's the protein.
Make sure you get your vitamins! Oh, and my mom always used to eat these gelatin things for hair and nail growth.
If you think school is hard, try being stupid.
I have recently started taking Biotin (about 2 months ago) and i can see a huge difference in my hair the length, shine and strength have all improved i recomend it!
So many men, so few who can afford me.

gelatin is great for hair and nails! i should go buy some this week.
i take hair pills for now. pretty soon, i'm going to buy these mutli-vit. for women that's sold in the vitamin shop. forgot the name, someone here mentioned it too. well this girl told me those were great for her hair too. i'll get the name in a few.
also, coconut oil is considered food for the hair. i don't know about it making it grow faster, but it gives my hair a nice hell of a shine!![]()
Vyanka, do you just put the coconut oil in and leave it for a bit then wash it out? I might have to try that..!

I use Chinese Herbal shampoo from lamasbeauty.com. I really don't have much trouble w/growth, I'm pretty lucky. I do sometimes take hair vitamins too. I eat protein several times a week. Also, scalp massages can help & a cooled rosemary tea used as a rinse.

I use coconut oil as well. It's not something you have to wash out. A little goes a long way. Plus I get deep hair treatments from my Dominican hair stylist every week.
Prenatal vitamins... hair and nails get thicker and longer... its from all the vitamins and stuff....
is it ok to take prenatal vitamins prolonged? Especially if you're not pregnant?
I'm just wondering if that's too much of certain vitamins (as some are fat soluble you can OD on em and get very, very ill)...hmm because if not I definately want to try that.

Prenatals are fine for long term as far as I know.
I'm suprised nobody has mentioned the Turbo Heir growth thread. I tried that regimine and noticed a remarkable difference. I have since stopped taking all of it, but I still take 6,000mcg of Biotin a day.

Okay so last night before bed I rubbed coconut oil through my hair, put it in a plait and went to sleep. I washed my hair when I woke up and omg, my hair is so soft and shiny today! I think I'll make this a weekly habit... thanks for the tip!![]()

NO, it is NOT okay to take prenatal vitamins long term.
The recommended daily allowances (RDA) for many of the vitamins are higher in pregnant women. The prenatal vitamins contain high levels of folate, vitamin A and minerals like iron. If you are not pregnant and continually using supplements at higher levels than your RDA it can cause toxicity symptoms, especially in the fat soluble vitamins/minerals because they can not be expelled as easily as water soluble vitamins.

I actually quit biotin because it made me hairy everywhere and didn't speed my growth up enough. I had some serious caterpillar brows and stubble going on for awhile. Which blows, because the biotin made my nails amazing.
Bleh. I guess it's just time then. Though I could stand to eat more protein.
The less damage you do to your hair the less it will split which can make a big difference in your length. So, blow drying, flat ironing, using the curling iron, anything with heat use as little as possible. Always wash your hair after getting out of the swimming pool asap, use good conditioner and shampoo only as often as you must. Also wearing it up or braided helps and I have heard the sweating helps.
Supplements I recommend which have been discussed on this website are "Hair" by California Naturals which can be purchased at Wal-Mart for around 4 bucks.
I used to take the infamous "Wal-Mart Hair Pills" and also vitamins called "Hair, Skin, and Nails". At first, they worked really well, and my hair was growing like a week. Now my hair growth has slowed, so I am either going to start the regimen up again (2 of each per day) or try something different, like the Biotin others mentioned. Gelatin does work too - I was really sick with tonsillitis a few years ago and could only eat Jello for like a month and I noticed that my hair and nails were growing like crazy!

I'm currently taking the Hair, Skin, and Nails pills. We'll see how they work.
My hair and nails grow super fast already, but I'm taking them to kinda turbo charge my hair growth. I want my natural hair color back and can't do anymore chemical damage to it so I just have to grow it out.
