    Default Makeup Tutorial Request

How do I get the Retro look. The one with white or pale pink shadow and lots of black liner & fake lashes (they had a good pic up on the MAC site when the Barbie line was out, but my local store was out of the shadows used before I got there). I cannot find a shadow that covers well enough for this look. I've found some with pretty good coverage, but they all have a ton of glitter and it doesn't work for this look.

Help Please!!! I LOOOOVE this look! So hot!!!

    Thanks
    Jasmine

Try dabbing chapstick below whatever eyeshadow you're using. HIP is the only drugstore brand I use, and they have matte colors there- some are decent and some aren't, depending on color it seems. Otherwise I'd suggest Urban Decay matte colors. I'd use liquid liner as well.

    Good luck!

This look is quite easy to achieve, but to get the white eyeshadow to stay put and look bright you'll have to use a good primer. I like Benefit's Lemon Aid. It has so many uses, and with a good coat of it over your eyelid you can make the most of any eyeshadow, even cheapie ones. And MAC paints are also good primers and can help you achieve a specific look. Lemon Aid is more versatile and can be used with any color.

    1. Apply a layer primer over the lid

    2. Apply matte white eyeshadow. Try drugstore eyeshadow if you are just practicing, more high end stuff if you plan on doing the look more often. Personally, when it comes to eyeshadow I think that you can go cheap almost all of the time as long as you have a good primer.

    3. Apply black liquid liner. This is something that takes practice and experimentation to perfect. Again, I'd recommend going the drugstore route while you are practicing. I don't drop a lot of money on liquid liner myself. It's all the same to me. Use photos as guides and just try to replicate the look. I like to apply a thick line and bring the end out to make a cat eye. For this look I would only do liner on the top lid, not the bottom.

    4. Curl eyelashes and then put on your fake lashes. Once dry, use black mascara to bring out the look.

I'm going to follow my own instructions and then take a pic., that way you can better see what I'm talking about. I'll be back in an hour or two with pics.

Good advice from Andy. Get yourself some MAC Fluidline, it's so much easier to use than regular liquid liner.

I've got the liner down. My main problem is finding a white or light pink eyeshadow that covers well without a ton of glitter. I used to have a cream base that worked, but I can't find it and don't even remember the brand (I think it was drugstore tho).
