    Default bellybuttons

Ever since I pierced my belly button I find it has a smell. Anyone know what causes this? I wash it super good but it never fails, it always comes back. Is this normal? lol. I feel like a fool but I've never noticed it till I pierced and and I just wonder if that has something to do with it.

The smell comes from dead skin, sweat, and bacteria in and around the piercing. Just keep washing it regularly. It's pretty normal.

Yeah its normal, just be glad its not your septum, lol. A girl on another site just posted about this and her septum piercing a couple of weeks ago.

Another thing to consider is that it may be your body reacting to the metal. I would try washing the hole out and substituting your current peircing for something less reactive (titanium or niobium for example).

Make sure you don't have any redness or other signs of an infection or fungus.

I have a titanium (nipple). I did notice a huge difference in smell. It still has the dead skin and everything so it has a faint odour, but it decreased dramatically.

Just spin it or move it around in the shower EVERY time you shower. This helps a lot. On hot days though, not much you can do. I've been looking for the cure all for over a decade.

No infection...it's been pierced for many years. It's only now that I asked. I figured it would go away, but the more people I ask now say it's normal... ty for your replies!
