Default Started the Shangri La diet

I decided to give it a try. It's definatly not the only thing I need to do, but it's a start to get my eating under control.

So far, I've been doing it for 2 days, and it is working!

It's very odd....I think the premise of this diet is pretty far fetched, and I wouldn't buy into it at all, but after reading so many positive experiences, I decided to give it a try, and it does work. It takes away appitite...but it also makes you just want to snack less...I have a huigh problem with bordem eating. I'm never actualyl hungry..I eat from bordem. Anyway..this takes away the urge to snack.

I'm trying to make changes in my life....I'm getting ready to go to the gym in a few minutes, and I am working tonight. I can't sit on my ass any longer. I can actualyl feel my muscles deteroriating. I've tried to go to the gym a few times before, and I have absolutly no stamina..I've just lost everything. So I am starting back at square one.

Not sure how well work will go tonight, but my only goal is getting there and actually trying to make money.

Ok..getting off subject. I'm just trying this diet to help get my eating under control, and it is working. the only bad thing is the oil makes me neuseated.
Hoping that will pass in time.

SO heres to day 1 at starting over. If I can make it until school starts, it should be smooth sailing from there.

Hopefully I can remember how to do stripper makeup tonight.....

Yeah, you get used to the oil in a few weeks. The diet does work amazingly well. I increased my oil recently (since I gained a little weight back- I started exercising and, not having upped my oil when I did, the exercise-induced increase in appetite didn't match my oil dose). Within three days of putting my oil dose up by a tablespoon, that weight- plus half another pound- was gone.

The premise is backed up by rat studies, apparently.

Everything is in the book, The Shangri-La Diet by Seth Roberts. It will clear up any questions you may have. There's also a board: http://boards.sethroberts.net/index.php.

I didn't work for me . But I think Flickad was right about my IBS frucking up my digestive capabilities. Fats of any kind are ouchy for me. So are whole grain anything, or fruit skins, or too much salad. So I have to be creative with my dieting.

But my new diet strategy is just to excercise myself stupid. It's the only thing that has ever worked in the past.

Good luck Kaylinn! Let us know how it goes.

I used to take tablespoons of Udo's once a day (since it was cheaper than pills) and after a while the texture and taste just made me gag. I like the principle but is there any way to alleviate the yuck factor?

EDIT: I notice from reading someone's blog about it that you can also take a tablespoon of sugar dissolved in water. That would probably be the way more palatable choice for me. *heh*

    You look skinnier than me......

Dieting cause...well..not trying to deit exactly...but I overeat. Badly. I just want conrtol of that.

I eat constantly. Not snacking, but actual meals. I;m not trying to diet realy....just get control of how much I eat. I have gained some weight recently, and it bothers me. Mostly thought...its the lack of muscle tone that eally kills me.

I'm workign on that as well, but you'll never see the muscles I build if I don;t get the layer of fat off over top.

My body fat right now is 28%....up from 18% normally.

Kaylinn, can I ask how you measured your body fat? My trainer used the calipers, and a few months ago, during a chubby time, it was close to that. But I never really believed it because I saw her writing down lower percentages on the sheet from certain body parts.

Oh, and I'm not sure about this, but theoretically, losing about 2 lbs will decrease about 1% body fat. Its not totally accurate,. but its what I keep in mind when working out. Obviously, it works too a point.

Good luck, I'm sure you are beautiful either way and I look forward to meeting you in Vegas.

Body fat was measured on a scae at the gym. They said there is room for a 3% error....so I suppose my body fat could be anywhere from 25-31%

Losing 2lbs is equal to 1% body fat is interesting.....because muscle weighs more than fat does. When I lost some weight and got healthy last year, I only lost about 5lbs, but my body fat went down to 18% because of how tone I got.

When I was at my fittest, I sort of built on this idea, by accident but I used teas rather than oil/sugar.

I got in the habit of having tea throughout the day and before meals, so it'd supress my appetite before I ate. I remember how easy it was to lose weight because the urge to snack mindlessly and all the time really was not there.
