    Default Vosges Chocolates-worth it?

I came across a discussion on a food board about Vosges' Bacon and smoked salt bar and checked out their website. Could someone who's tried any of their products please describe just how subtle or intense the added ingedients are? I've been bringing the ATF a box from various chocolatiers from the strip casinos recently, but she seems to be more of a traditionalist and less into the floral and spice aspect. People rave about these though, so I wonder if they are that different or exceptional?

Link? I've heard of people adding odd things to chocolate and I'd love to try it. You can bring me some.

These look awesome! My best friend's bday is coming up in a few weeks and she loves exotic foods. I'm going to get her something from this site.

Those chocolates look damn good. I'm a sucker for great truffles and amazing ice creams. I may have to try this stuff just to see how it is...

Well, for one, they aren't all that expensive, so if you don't like them you're not out a lot. They sell the exotic candy bars (an some of the other products) at Whole Foods, by the way, if you want to try those.

I love Vosges. I think the Exotic Candy Bars are delicious, with my favorites being the Naga, Calindia, Barcelona, and Red Fire. The truffles are also excellent.

I have not tried the bacon and salt bar -- I have had a couple of different bacon chocolates and the combination is not to my liking. However, if you are a heavy drinker, it might be.

That being said, if by "traditionalist" you mean "likes godiva," don't buy it if it's not going to be appreciated. Maybe take her a little box of the exotic truffles and see if she likes them. Or the Naga Bar -- milk chocolate and coconut and curry are not too terribly exotic.

The more intense chocolates are for people who really like actual chocolate flavor as opposed to the flavors of a typical American candy bar -- I mean, I like Kit Kats too, but this is a whole 'nother thing.

Anyhow, if you need someone to buy Vosges for . . .

Didn't Homer Simpson cause a traffic accident and invent chocolate covered bacon? And by "traditionalist" I meant more in the line of fruit and nut additions versus the herbal and floral trend.

One night she told me how much she liked chocolate and offered to share. I accepted and she produced a couple of Hershey's Kisses. Ack! So I've been introducing her to real chocolate since. Started with Ethel M's from the specialty shop at the Fashion Show Mall, then went to an exotic collection from Jean Phillipe Patisserie from the Bellagio. She thoght these were pretty but didn't care for them much. Flavors like Lavender, Rose Petals and Earl Grey Tea. Too funky for her. I've settled on a stand in the Venetian which has a nice variety to pick from and she's starting to understand how good chocolate should not only taste, but feel.

How about the milk chocolate collection?

OR...you could spend the $25 on an extra dance and tip. I'll bet you she'd appreciate that more!

So buy the bars with fruit and nuts. Or get her some Lake Champlain chocolates; they are way more traditional than Vosges with their flavorings and additions.

I love Vosges chocolates! I love their caramels--they are not too exotic tasting and they are really delicious! Try Box B: Dulce de Leche, Blood Orange, Tupelo Honey, Maple Sugar.
