Default How much to tip VIP Host?

How much do you guys tip the VIP host when you found you own customer and he's paying cash?

Last night I did a 5 hour celebrity booth (Woo Hoo!)
I told my custy to tip the Host when we got in there but I didn't see how much.

After all the damn champagne, the custy had to leave quick to catch a plane (before our time was up ) and I just left the booth and checked out with the DJ without letting the Host know that we were done (oops, I had a buzz)

Then as I am getting ready to walk out, the Host was there to lecture me for not telling him we were done and then said my guy didn't tip him at all!

I gave him $100, was that enough for a five hour VIP, that I found myself and was paid in cash?

    I'm paranoid now.

Generally, your supposed to tip 20%.....

I would have at the very least given $250...just for the simple fact that if I ever want any host hook me up in the future....plus they talk...and word will spread that you had 5 hours in and only tipped $100.....

I made that mistake once before..tipped way to low. I was a little buzzed and just had a brain fart....I went back the next day and gave him a couple hundred more.....You don't wanna shoot yourself in the foot and piss off all the hosts.

    Damn!

They split their tips between them, right? The VIP Host that worked my room is an ass, so I thought maybe he was lying when he said my customer didn't tip him at all.

Guess, tonight I will give him another bill...

He could have been lying, I wouldn't put it past them....

But yeah..they all split the tips, and they all talk....

Believe me, there is absolutly nothing worse than having to tip a host when he did nothing for you, and was an asshole on top of that. It's soo hard to part with your money for reasons like that.....but it is nesessary if you don't want fucked over in the future.

Ok...I have to ask. Does anyone else find it a little ridiculous that you ever have to tip out that much? I mean, Jesus, maybe I want to be a VIP host! Granted, I haven't worked in a club with VIP. but from what I can gather, it doesn't sound like a VIP host does much, certainly not enough to warrant hundreds and hundreds of dollars in tip out. Am I wrong? If so, can someone explain what exactly it is that they do?

They watch your time, run credit cards, make sure nothing bad happens to you, makes sure you get paid.

They also can hook you up with big spenders.

They can also, majorly mess with your money, by letting time run to long, leaving you back there, harassing your customer while you dance, nitpick you on every rule, or telling you there's not a spot for your VIP.

Well, the waitresses at my club always let my time run over so I NEVER go to work without my watch. All our waitresses do is bring drinks if we need them, and take us to our room. If I forget my watch, I'll tell the doorman to come get me and he'll of course make sure my time doesn't run over. I always tip him good.

It's more like your tipping them so they don't fuck with your money....rather than tpping them to hook you up. I mean, it happens, they do hook you up fromt ime to time, but if you don't tip, they can make yoru life miserable.

There is a host at Sapphire that I absoltuly hate. For ahwile, I was refusing to tip him....and he got promoted to skybox host. Thoes are $500 an hour for me.

So one night a floor host says to me, a big party just walked in, and got a skybox. Go upstairs right now and tell him I sent you. I get up there and the host ( the ass i hate) says to me, yeah....we have all the girls we need now.

Another time i took my own customer up there, and he told me they were all full, even tho I coudl see a few open doors. I would have told my customer to tip him and see if a room opened magicially, but I was concerned the customer would tip him and he stil wouldn't give us a room.

This is why I alwyas try, as much as it pains me to do so....to give at least 10-15%....20 or more if the host hooked me up.

I did learn a sneaky trick to make your tip money go further.

All hosts usualyl split the tips. There are certain hosts that will hook you up better than others....
So I don't tip out until the end of the night, giving the whole lump sum tip to the one or 2 hosts that I know hook me up. So If I had a $1000 night..instead of tippign a few bucks here and there afetr VIPs, I'll tip $100 to one guy, and tell him to thank everyone for me. He don't know what I made, and may think that $100 was an awesome tip. He gets ont he walkietalkies and says "kaylin tipped and says thank you" so they all know i tipped out. But that one guy will remember the hundred I handed over. SO he wil continue to find customers for me.

What I am worried about tonight is, if I give the Host more, he will keep it for himself and all the other hosts won't ever know that I gave more.

I have had my customers tip the host for us when we enter the room, so they all are cool with me.

This new idiot, though I never work with and he's a greedy fuck, and I don't trust him.

Should I tip more tonight? How do I make sure that all the Host know about with bringing to much attention on myself?

I swear the last club I worked at the VIP host made more money nightly than any of the girls.

^^Vegas is different. The VIP hosts there are such greedy fucks. Good advice from Kaylinn about tipping at the end of the night. I wish I had thought about that when I was working there. I think if you work somewhere consistently, it is important to ALWAYS tip well. If you just come in for the weekend once or twice a year, they won't remember you anyways so it's not worth the bother to over tip. You'll be finding your own VIP custies. But if you live and work there all the time, it is definitely worth it since it can greatly affect future earnings.

I don't know what I was tripping over, last night, right when I hit the floor, one of the Hosts that I am cool with flagged me down and pointed me right to a good customer.

I brought up the tip thing form last night and he said it was all good and they all wanted to Thank me for the tip.

    Weird, but I'm not complaining.

Is that the minimum? That's an awful lot to come out of your pocket. Generally, I suggest a number - say, $100/hour - to the customer as a tip for the host. If the customer stiffs him, I will pay $20/hour to be polite.

Overtipping does not get you anywhere. Ever. Pay what you owe or what you think is fair.

$20 an hour is a waste of $20. An hour VIP is $400-$500 an hour for me. Giving the host only a $20 is just a waste. Might as well stiff him.

20% isn't overtipping...its the minimum recommended amount just to stay on their good side.

Overtipping does get you somewhere if you tip at the right time and to the right person. I have tipped up to 50% of my VIP before...and it was well worth every penny because the rest of the week, that host called me to VIP every single night. I may have given up $250./...but i made several thousand because of it.
